Levi's Women's Straight 505 Jeans

I have been on a search for jeans that fit my naturally curvaceous bottom and hips on my 5'7", upper 40's mother-of-4-youngsters, generally size 12 Long/Tall body. I tried on Riders by Lee Indigo Women's Relaxed Fit Straight Leg, Lee Women's Relaxed Fit Sraight Leg, Levi's Women's 505 Straight Leg, and Levi's Women's 525 Perfect Waist Straight Jean through Amazon's Prime Wardrobe program. None were free or discounted, I am purchasing my favorites at full price. These are my insights on these jeans:Riders by Lee Indigo Women's Relaxed Fit Straight Leg, Patriot Blue, size 12 Long - my favorite; my new number one jeans. They are true to size; a 12 fits comfortably. These are mid waist jeans, sitting at my belly button in the front. It fits well over my curvy bottom and hips without gaping at the waist in the back, although the mid back comes up nearer to my actual waist so that it covers my bottom without showing anything if I bend over. These are also a truly relaxed fit, they drape nicely but don't cling to any part of me below mid hip. In the past I have regretted purchasing regular length as they generally become highwaters after a wash or two. I ordered the Long, which are REALLY long - almost two inches too long. They are also a nice heavy, traditional denim (99% cotton, 1% spandex), which is a bit scrachy and stiff at first, but softens up very nicely after washing. The heavy denim feels so much better in the long run, as they don't stretch out throughout the day and start sagging. And, I like that they don't have the weird whiskering at the hips which just make my hips look even bigger, nor do they have the sanded thighs that make my thighs look bigger. For those who care, these do have real, hand depth pockets in front. Wonderful jeans for 40+! I love these!Lee Women's Relaxed Fit Sraight Leg, Authentic Nile, size 12 Tall - these are not a good fit for curvy with a bottom. They are true to size and very soft. They fit fine over my curvy bottom and hips, but left a three finger gap in the back waistband. The front waistband is higher than on the Lee Riders, I would consider these close to standard high rise which sits up at my waist. I do like that they don't have the whiskering and sanding, but the Authentic Nile are an odd aqua blue, not a true indigo blue. And, again, I ordered the tall, which is long, but only 1/2 to 1 inch too long (prior to washing), so I would definitely keep tall in these if I were keeping them. These are 92% cotton, 7% polyester, and 1% spandex, which feel a lot more like I would expect pajama jeans to feel than traditional jeans. And, along with the gap, I am concerned they will sag as the day progressed, eventually hanging off my hips, so these are not for me.Levi's Women's 505 Straight Leg, Sleek Blue, size 12 Long - not a good fit for curvy with a bottom. These are true to size, but are not relaxed (they fit much closer to my thighs). The waist is a bit stretchy, but still has a 2 to 3 finger gap in back. And, unfortunately these have whiskering which make my hips look wider and sanded thighs which I don't like. They are 99% cotton, like the Lee Riders, but are slightly thinner and softer before washing. I ordered the 12 Long, which is comfortably long, leaving an extra 1/2 to 1 inch (prior to washing). Theses have a mid waist, sitting right at mid belly button in front. Unfortunately these are also the lowest cut in the back, and with the gap, creates a plumber crack look when bending over. Definitely not for me.Levi's Women's 525 Perfect Waist Straight Jean, Bear Creek, size 14 regular - okay fit, but not my favorite. These were the only jeans I had to try on the 14s, so these run a bit small, particularly in the hips and thighs (according to other reviews it may have to do with the color, the 12s were very dark (Darkest Ace), which many said run smaller). They sit well in the back, high enough, but without a gap, and sit at low mid waist in front, coming to the middle of my belly button. These also have the whiskering, but it is less visible on this faded color of denim. The Bear Creek is 99% cotton, 1% spandex, and very comfortable. These are my second favorite of all the jeans I tried. I am torn as to whether to buy them or not - I do like the fit and feel, but at almost twice the price of the Lee Riders and requiring a larger size, I'm not sure whether I will keep these or not.

I got these in Sleek Blue, size 8, 32 length. The fabric content is 99% cotton, 1% elastin. Note that the fabric content of Levi jeans changes with the color. My waist above navel is about 27.5". I'm a bit short waisted. My hips are about 37.5". The size 8 fit me perfectly when I first put them on. But after a few hours, the jeans had stretched out so much that they were baggy, particularly around upper thighs. I maybe should have gotten a 6. The jeans will probably snap back to their original size after washing. I'm hoping they also shrink.The one way that these jeans don't fit me great is the upper thighs. The fabric on interior thighs and exterior is loose and pooches out. I have somewhat slim thighs for my size. I'm hoping when the fabric gets softer with wear and washing, the poochiness of the stiff fabric will fall down the leg and not be as noticeable. I've had this issue with several types of Levi's I've tried, so I think levi's makes jeans for larger thighs than some other brands.I've loved Levi jeans for years. I can tell the better quality in these 505s, like the higher cotton content and thickness of the fabric, from the cheaper Levi's I've bought. The 505 cut is flattering, too, and the sizing seems appropriate. I recommend, though I wish I'd bought one size smaller, so they'd fit better after stretching out.UPDATE: The jeans didn't shrink much after washing and drying, and they stretch out a full size after wearing for half a day that I couldn't wear the jeans at all. I've since lost weight, so this isn't my size anymore, anyway, so I guess not a loss of money. I won't be buying these jeans to fit my smaller size, though, because of the stretching out and the thighs being too large.

Let me say that I purchased this pair of jeans in October of 2020, and they fit just as expected. I really like the way they fit, a little long, but generally I wear with boots, so okay. I purchased the legacy color and then the material was 68% cotton, 23%polyester, 8% Viscose, 1% Elastane, now if you order the same pair of jeans the material is not the same, so the fit is different. If you order the same pair of jeans today, the material is 78% Cotton, 21% Polyester, 1% Elastane, but if you order the 724, high rise jeans the material is the same as the first pair of jeans that I ordered and the fit is the same as the ones that I ordered in October. With all that being said, what I ordered in October was a size 30 (size 10) regular. I am 5'2 and and wear a size 10 when I buy pants at the department stores. I re-ordered these pants in December in black, because I liked the jeans so much, and the fit was awful. When I measured the waist, it was a 27. I had to return them to amazon, and reorder the 724. I will say that the pants were made in different countries, I don't know if that made a difference or not, but the material was not the same as the jeans that I ordered in October, even though they were the same 505 jeans. I did bring that to Amazon's customer service attention. I do appreciate the way that amazon will let you return the purchase when something isn't right. Just make sure that the material is what you want before you order or reorder because this material has changed from what it used to be.

Levis are Levis. They are always perfect!

Good quality, fits a little loose. Was a bit surprised at final price because I was looking at $34 jeans initially and ended up with $65 jeans - my bad for not paying attention. Would buy again - just 1 size smaller

Having waited for a while to receive my jeans I was over the moon when they arrived x gorgeous the colour material and style, I love the stretch in them. However, they are too big ! So I have to return them😢. I hope my new order won’t take as long to arrive !
