Is it suitable for a left handed?

Sort of my boy is left handed but he wants to write the letters in opposite direction ie for H he does the stroke across from right t left but it will only let u do left t right. He does manage but its tricky and he gets cross

Totally confused as some say it’s british while others say this is the american version. does it say z as in “zed” or “zee”?

Mine says “Zed” (not “Zee”) but speaks with an American accent.

does this item have a feature where my child can write a word from a story book and hear what that word sounds like?, if not any suggestions ?

They follow the dotted line. It shows the child how to do it, then they have a go. It's really good, my 4 year old loves it and finds it easy to follow. You have to pretty much follow the dots, otherwise it will make you start again.
