John Landis directs this American comedy starring Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short. Lucky Day (Martin), Dusty Bottoms (Chase) and Ned Nederlander (Short) are a trio of silent film stars - known as the 'Three Amigos' - who have been dropped by their studio. So when they receive a telegram inviting them to put on a show in a remote Mexican village, they are forced to accept. However, there is one problem; the villagers mistake them for real daring caballeros, and the banditos they are being paid to take on fire real bullets. Will the Amigos save the day, or have they bitten off more than they can chew? Review: A True, Classic Comedy. - Imagine a 'Magnificent Seven' scenario...a Mexican village being threatened by a big, bad guy. Who do they call for help? The THREE AMIGOS!!! Except...they are just actors who think they're getting a 'cushy gig'. Absolute hilarity ensues as these three actors try to pull off a 'Magnificent Seven', with absolute no skills whatsoever. A silly, but so funny film that will have you chuckling for years. Review: Worth a watch - Old and very dated but still a good laugh.

Classic, funny, well worth the watch.
A must see classic movie. Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Martin Short. Comedy about 3 Hollywood actors who get a call to a Mexican village in the desert to save them from a dangerous cartel and leader. They think it's a scripted act but is a very real world senario. Very funny film, a classic, saw this when I was kid, now as an adult I just had to show the Mrs who hadn't seen it.

No extras but technically not bad, not sure the film survived the 80's that well
I was interested in having a look at this in HD on blu-ray as I hadn't seen this since the early 90s in SD on VHS. I had fond memories of this as I'm a Steve Martin fan and I wanted to see if my rose tinted specs we're in need of new lenses. The first thing to note is there are absolutely no extras, from the main title page all you get is the play option, not even chapters! There are still a few parts in this film that made me giggle, it wasn't cutting edge comedy when it was released but it has it maintained it's appeal? I don't think it's going to appeal to any new audiences but us old fogies can still enjoy it one more time. This is no 'The Jerk' or 'The Man with Two Brains' but I still think there are quite a few laughs here and to this day I still try and use the 'plethora' line in conversation now and again to see who remembers this film. Now from a technical point of view... The opening science is the 3 Amigos singing their theme song. I was a little disappointed with the amount of film grain evident in this piece, although this does settle down to only minimal levels throughout the rest of the film. Though it's a bit worse in the black and white silent parts, mainly down to it being shot on 16mm. There is a good amount of shadow detail, particularly well handled in the cantina scene. Most of the audio is locked to the front channels with only a few spot effects making use of the rear channels but they are effective, especially the church bell chiming at 5:42 and the horses at 36:34. There's not much edge enhancement going on, I was only aware of it during a couple of wide shots with the cactus' looking particularly sharp (no pun intended). There was also some evidence of it on the edges of some of the hats against the sky but it wasn't intrusive in any way.

Funny
Right this is not what you would call a great movie or a classic movie but it is definitely an enjoyable one and after watching it you will be doing the 3 Amigos dance we all did in the 80s ask anyone who would have seen it in the 80s and they might even show you a move or two and it is very cheap to get right now so go on like the rest of us you’re not going to be watching the TV one night and put this on and CHILL
