My "go to" to make my royal icing a true white.

I’ve been experimenting with sourdough and wanted to try adding designs to it. While I maybe should’ve read the product details a bit more, I found that the gel was a little runny, and my regular food dye didn’t mix in as well as I hoped—though that might’ve been user error. The colors remained vibrant after baking, and it gave me the opportunity to experiment! I did have some run-off, but I think that was because my dough wasn’t solid enough to hold the design. Overall, it’s worth purchasing, and I’ll definitely continue to use it. It didn’t affect the taste or texture of the bread at all!

I bought this to test on my buttercream icing. Because I use butter (not shortening), it is an off white or antique white color. I've tried to whiten it with other white food colorings, but even with a LOT of it, there was little to no change in the color. This white food color worked! I'm a little embarrassed to post my slapped together cake, but I wanted to show how well it worked. The decorated sheet cake is my buttercream, the slapped together round cake is the same recipe with this white food coloring.
