Suspenseful Ride from Start to Finish
Kathryn Croft is one of my favorite authors and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all of her books. With that said, some of her more recent books did not capture my attention as much as her earlier ones did. I think it's safe to say in The Suspect the magic is back! The Suspect is a roller coaster ride that draws you in from the beginning and piques your curiosity throughout. The story revolves around a woman who was murdered in front of her two and a half-year-old daughter (Jess) almost 30 years ago. The murderer was never convicted. As Jess grows older, she harbors extreme guilt that she has no recollection of what happened, and her family refuses to talk about it. As a teenager and young adult, she forces herself to become so perceptive of her surroundings that she notices intricate details in the environment that most people miss. She never wants her memory to fail her again. 28 years later a stranger confronts her and reveals that her mother was likely murdered by someone she knows. But who? Now it's time for her to find out.

Eh...
A lot of twist and turn with much being too unrealistic.

The suspect
I only gave it four stars because, I found it very confusing going back and forth from past to present in the chapters, I was starting to lose track of the characters in the book and .most stopped reading it, I didn't like the way it was written, but I did finish it and it was suspenseful,

Page turner
This is not my type of book at all, I like time travel romance. I am so glad I tried something new. It had me really thinking who could it be??? Was it her own mother or sister? A total stranger. Or could it have been her boyfriend? I'm talking about Lori I kinda thought she was pushing a bit hard for Danny to marry her. Then he had a secret. One that had me in suspense til it was revealed. This book was a very nice break from my norm. I give it a very well deserved ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The power of deceit
I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't stop reading. What a story - covers love, hate, lies, relationships, manipulation, revenge, mistrust, tragic loss, mystery, and, above all, deceit and the reasons people find to excuse it. thought-provoking. Is everyone capable of killing? What would I do in that situation?

Awesome story
A story that sent chill vibes in me. Especially the scenes were Jess studio light is on and a day she hears footsteps above her when she is on phone and rushing up she finds nobody.Ending was truly unpredicted. It sent shocks, for I couldn’t think this person being the killer. Nail biting story. Jess character is of a fiery women who really goes behind the truth finding her mothers killer. Harrison character is apt well portrayed also the guy who helps her. Gabriel seemed perfect but no.Lori her mother character past is narrated side by side. Her relationship with her sister, her relationship at home. Danny is a shady character with not a good character. On the whole each character builds the story so much that it’s nail biting. Thank you author for such a lovely story.

WOW
WOW I really enjoyed The Suspect a psychological thriller with an amazing twist by Kathryn Croft. It is the first time I have read a book by this author.Lori Gray is out for a stroll with her baby daughter Jess who is safely secured in her pram and she appreciates how blessed she is on this early morning when the sun is rising and it is April 1993. Lori is a single Mother bringing up her baby daughter but sadly this will be the last time Lori will ever see the sunrise again. The story pans between 1993 and present day as Lori Gray's baby daughter Jess who is now a fully grown young woman wanting to know who murdered her Mother on that April morning back in 1993.Nathaniel French is the main suspect in the murder of Lori Gray but there was not enough hard evidence to convict him. He tracks down Jess to inform her that he should never have been taken into custody in the first place as he was inncocent and tells Jess that she has to know the truth. As Jess is on a quest to find out who murdered her Mother she will discover that certain members of her family have kept secrets from her that happened in the past.
