AMAZING READ 💙
Wow. Wow. Wow. WOW!Oh my heart 🥹😍😭 This book is AMAZING!! The story is amazing. This group of characters is amazing. Piper and Lucas are amazing. Jax, well of course Jax is still amazing! 😉 Jessa Wilder is amazing!! Everything about this is just AMAZING!If you’re anything like me, you fell in love with Lucas and Piper when we met them in Rule Number Five. We learn a little bit about Piper, Lucas and Jax’s background in that book, but I was so not prepared for all Piper and Lucas had to overcome to get their HEA. Their story is so tragically beautiful. 🥹I love how feisty and strong-willed Piper is. Her tragic and traumatic past is a lot, but she continues to conquer everything life throws at her with a supreme level of sass. She’s inspiring and keeps this rowdy group of hockey players in line. And can we talk about Mr. Lucas Knight 🥵 Let’s be real, there are parts of this book where I’m with Piper, Jax, and probably most of his friends, and want to throttle the man. But then he holds her when she has nightmares, makes sure she has a place to stay when her dorm is out of commission, has her birthday tattooed on him, shows up to her volleyball game in her jersey (reverse jersey trope - totally here for it), meets his dad halfway between campus and their hometown to bring her her favorite dinner, calls his mom in the middle of the medicine aisle at the store to know what to get a girl to help with her period, watches her favorite movie with her even though he doesn’t like it, wants to show her off to his friends, makes she she has almond milk for her cereal, bakes muffins for her in the middle of the night, and glams her up for a fundraiser to make sure she wins a date with him. Oh, and he calls her Killer?? I mean come on 🫠 another top tier book boyfriend brought to life by Jessa Wilder 😂A good book should make you have all the feels, and trust me this book accomplishes that mission. There are so many emotions packed into these 34 chapters. Get ready to get on an emotional rollercoaster when you open this one! The ride is tough at times, but the journey and destination sure are beautiful. 🥰This book was so good, it had me forgetting I was reading. The pages of this fly by without you even noticing. One second I was at 25%, and next thing I knew I was 89% done and so not ready for it to end.I just cannot express how much I love this book and these characters. I didn’t think I could love them any more than I did after Rule Number Five, especially Jax and River, but I was wrong - so beautifully wrong. I cannot wait for Rules of Our Own for all the River content and a inside look in his head.😍I also need to reread Rule Number Five STAT because I’m going to appreciate Lucas and Piper’s love story/content so much more now that I know the inside of what they went thru to get where they are. Also I was already head over heels for Jax, and even thought I didn’t think it was possible, I love him more. I just cannot wait to reread his story knowing more about his backstory from this book. Jessa - I cannot express enough thanks and gratitude for the opportunity to be a member of your ARC team and to have had the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book. Your writing is so amazing and intoxicating. Once I dive into one of your books, I physically cannot put it down. The characters live rent free in my head and my heart, and there isn’t anywhere else I want them to be. You should be so proud of yourself, this series is masterful! This book is amazing! I cannot wait for release day to watch the love this book is destined to get.Check this book out! You will be so glad you did. And if you haven’t met this group yet, download Rule Number Five now and get ready to fall in love! 😍

Just hit me in the feels ❤️❤️❤️
𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐒: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐂𝐄: 🔥🔥🔥 I am so happy I got to read this book! I loved Rule Number 5 (the first in this series) and getting to see Lucas and Piper's story just brought so much depth and history. I needed this to fall deeper in love with these guys, and loved it even more than the first. Plus this book hurt so good. I'm not usually one for super angsty romances, but this one was out of the world with emotion and just broke my heart and put it right back together. Piper crashed into Lucas's life at the age of seven, and grew up with him in a close knit group of her brothers friends. When Lucas and Piper finally realize what they were always meant to be to each other, tragedy strikes and they are forced to fight for the love they both know is there between them. Lucas is one of those book boyfriends that you want to hug and punch in equal measure, but he's so endearing, that he makes up for all the pain he puts you through. Piper is a great FMC, and she knows that some things take time, and that some loves are worth fighting for. Plus if you read the first one and loved Jax, well I have news for you. 💕💕 This book is poignant, raw and absolutely hit me in the feels. Jessa does a great job writing these hockey boys and portraying friendships that just make each character even stronger. And the spice is great, even if you have to wait a little longer for it. It definitely delivers. This was one of my favorite reads of May! I love childhood best friend romances and this one delivers. I cannot wait for more. 💕💕 *NOTE: this is the second book in the Rule Breaker Series, but happens chronologically before the first book. If you are new to this, I think you could read this one first! *this is an ARC reader review and I received early access to this book for fair and honest feedback

Great story
Brothers’ best friend is one of my favorite tropes and this one hits all the marks! Lucas has been best friends with Marcus since they were 7. He met Piper at the same time. He might have been Marcus’ best friend, but he was also Piper’s. These two had a great friendship and then the unimaginable happens and it tears them both apart. Trying to find their footing in the new life that they both have is like walking on egg shells, but sometimes friendship and love become the one saving thing.I fell for Lucas. This man did everything he could to push away feelings for Piper yet, there was nothing that he could do when the gate opened. Piper has been in love with Lucas for as long as she can remember. We see this beautiful person that has struggled to find herself after Lucas walked away and she had to learn to fend for herself. Life was not fair, nor was it easy. She worked hard to get through it all and even harder to overcome the past year. These two together though are absolutely amazing. They are so similar that we see them both trying to stay away from the other knowing that if they fall again, it would shatter them.

I wanted to love it
I loved Rule Number 5 and I was so excited for this book but less than 50% in and I was already insanely frustrated. The storyline was strong but the MFC drove me more than a little nuts and I hated the MMC 75% of the time. Lucas kept leading Piper on and then icing her out even though he was the one in the wrong and she just kept going back for more over and over. I wanted her to stand up for herself. The back and forth went on for way too long and it made Piper seem weak. I swear I wanted to chuck my kindle across the room no less than 10 times before finishing the book. I get that not all books are going to be rainbows and sunshine all the time and there needs to be a push and pull between characters to make the story interesting but other than the HEA I was bummed out most of the time. It was either crazy spicy or depressing and barely anything in between.

Rules of the Game
J Wilder has out done herself with Rules of the Game. A talented writer of emotional buildup, you will be captivated by the heartfelt story of Lucas and Piper. And of course wouldn’t be a good read without all those feels. 100% recommend

A good 4.5 ⭐️
Only because I rated Rule Number Five 5 stars and this one did not quite hit as hard for me. But fear not, it came very close!!!So don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved it and devoured it two (three?) days. But I love love love a good angsty romance, and the angst was angsting a little bit more in RNF. Personal preference, is all. Before I get into it, I would like to express my everlasting gratitude to Jessa, who in her great generosity, decided to offer an ARC to all of the hockey romance obsessed girlies from her Facebook reading group who signed up for it. I have 0 relevance in the book community, no followers (my account is private for heaven's sake), but Jessa said *"you get an ARC, you get an ARC, EVERYBODY gets an ARC!!"*.So here am I. A non-native speakers trying to put my internal rambling into words, trying to tell you how much I loved this book and how much I loved to rant after our characters when they were doing something that I, in my infinite wisdom, judged stupid, sexist or toxic. How much I loved them when they were being sweet, vulnerable, hot and/or adorable. This story focuses on Piper and Lucas, whom we first meet in RNF as Jax’s friends. It’s set before and slightly during RNF. Piper is Marcus’ sister, and she’s part of the friend group formed by these two, plus Jax and Lucas. They all met when they were 7yo, and have been hanging out ever since.Things change dramatically after tragedy hits, as we learned in RNF, and heartbreak and bad decisions ensue. Will our two lovers find their way back to each other?I loved the tension, loved the heartbreak, loved the spice. The plot itself is fairly simple, it just follows the evolution of their relationship, step by step, events by events, and I love that for a romance book. It's focused on the MC and their feelings, and it's so delicious.SPOILERS BELOW:Here's a few thoughts I have about the characters:Marcus is an *ss. I know he’s a stereotyped fictional character but I hated the double standard so much. I was crushed when he died but I didn’t really have time to get attached to him bc I was too busy despising him.Lucas took long enough to pull his head out of his butt BUT once he does, he’s incredible. I understand where he’s coming from but mate, you could have just talked to her rather than abandoning her. But hey, we need them to drift apart.Piper is sweet and funny but she needs to stand up for herself more. Also, a 4 year old kid at 26? Who are these people? Cannot relate.

love love LOVE!
Lucas and Piper are just 😍This book had me hooked from page one, I’ve laughed I’ve cried and I’ve fell in love with these two, hard. I read the whole thing in less than 24 hours. Would give it 100 stars if I could. Jesse has become one of my favourite authors. Rule Breaker series is a MUST read.

over the top
I was really excited to read the book, however I didn’t expected it to be so disappointed. The story was cringe, specifically the MFC. I feel your brother should be more important than the guy your slept with. After reading this I dont think I cant waste time snd money on the next book.
