In San Francisco, Jill Valentine is dealing with a zombie outbreak, Leon Kennedy is tracking a kidnapped DARPA scientist and Claire Redfield is investigating a monstrous fish. Joined by Chris Redfield and Rebecca Chambers, they discover the trail of clues from their separate cases all converge on Alcatraz Island, where a new evil awaits their arrival. Review: Great Addition to the series! - Here we have yet another film entry in the Resident Evil franchise, with this one being a direct sequel to the previous animated film "Resident Evil: Vendetta". If you've never seen "Vendetta", don't worry because the film's story still stands on its own and can be enjoyed without watching any of the other films, or even the games for that matter. It definitely helps if your familiar with the characters and previous stories, but it's not necessary to enjoy it. The basic story features our classic action heroes finding a new zombie virus and tracing it back to Alcatraz Island of all places and having to deal with zombies and other mutant monsters along the way. The story is unfortunately kind of generic as far as resident evil stories go. It's your typical "Bad guy with a tragic past creates a new zombie virus with a new gimmick and wants to get revenge on society by unleashing his virus on the world". It's a story that we have seen a million times within the resident evil franchise and the lead bad guy seems like an exact copy of the bad guy from the previous film "Vendetta". It's not bad, just kind of bland, at least on paper. Thankfully while the story isn't too original, everything else is done very well. This film has some of the best motion capture animation that we've seen in any of these resident evil animated films and the action and fight choreography is top notch and very creative. The film looks beautiful as well with the CGI textures being some of the most detailed I've seen in an animated film, at least outside of Pixar or Disney. It looks great and is very entertaining. Long time fans of the franchise will also be happy to see that we have all of the classic video game characters together in one film for the first time ever. We get to see Chris, Clair, Rebecca, and Leon all work together to fight zombies on Alcatraz Island. What more could you want? Overall, it's a fun movie with some good action and visuals. While it is nice to see all the classic characters together, the film still suffers from having a generic story. Not to mention that the way the story is written, it doesn't really feel that impactful to the overall resident evil franchise. Honestly, I feel like the previous film "Vendetta" had a better script and made better use of the characters but this film still works on it's own merit and has just as good if not better action and animation. The whole thing kind of just feels like an excuse to have fan-favorite characters come together and fight zombies on Alcatraz Island, which is nice, but still. I would definitely recommend this if your a fan of the video games as this is definitely the better than any of the other live action films(both in terms of action and story), or if your just a fan of adult animation in general. Review: Awesome! - I love these Resident Evil videos! And this one is a very good one! It's got a ton of action, a good story plot, and the typical grand finale with a giant monster mutant! Awesome! Keep these things comin' boys!

Love the Monsters in This Film
Sadly, my steelbook was damaged at the factory before being packaged, and had a small scratch on the front corner. At least it's Resident Evil, so the grunge look works. Not Amazon's fault, just expect a chance for imperfections. The movie itself is great like all the other CGI films. I found the plot to be a little weaker than some of the others, but the monsters are probably the best ones in this film series. It was great seeing so many big characters in this movie together, and the animation is top notch. The steelbook has a Licker on the back, and Jill and Leon on the inside. Super nice design, and looks great in the collection. If you're a fan of any of the other animated films, this is definitely one to check out.

Graphics, animations, sound 10/10. Jill is needs a reality check
The story is the usual RE start up, a location gets infected and the Resident Evil "avengers" must come and save 'em. The technology and art direction used in this film is really damn good. Graphics are clean, motion is smooth, and the sound feels like it's super high resolution audio. They did a do lousy job with the main characters I must say. Chris is way too laid back, seems like a lil punk type personality and not like the games at all. Jill is just a miserable lil peanut throughout the whole series even when her homies are trying to help. It does come off as "lil brat" type annoying to where you care less and less about her as the film goes on. Leon and Claire are done perfectly, equal to their video game counterparts. Overall great film, just has some unlikeable character personalities. 4/5

Story is a bit meh but otherwise very entertaining and cool
Two hours, so actually feels like a movie and not some rushed out product. I did notice some animation stuttering or errors here and there, they're minor but it was a bit surprising. I'd call this movie very fan servicey, but in a good way. In a "you get to see these characters actually interact and discuss things" way, not in a beach episode way. Villain motivation was lacking, but his plan wasn't too over the top really. Still wildly evil and unnecessary, but he's the villain (i do like his back story, we get it in flashbacks). Get the story they were trying to tell, focusing on Jill. I don't remember watching the Vendetta film, but apparently this is more of a sequel to that film. Do recommend!

Weakest of the Animated RE Series, BEST looking Character Models
This is going to be a polarizing take, but I have a few big issues with this entry into the RE CGI series of movies. Before I get into that, I'll get into the standout good; The writers and storyboard team knows exactly what fans want to see. Slowly over time, they've been reintroducing and slowly reshaping the standout protagonists of the RE universe between Claire, Jill, Chris, Leon, and Rebecca. The models look perfect. Jill is a carbon copy of the RE3 remake videogame (the best version of Jill imo) and Chris looks almost exactly like himself in RE5 & RE6 while Leon has finally been honed in on. The animators never seem to decide whether they want Leon to exemplify an over-powered anime protagonist looking young and softer on the face, or in his mid 30's and grizzled (Like in Damnation facing off against 2 Tyrant BOWs) This movie is strong in moments but weak overall. The MAIN ANTAGONIST is deeply flawed and villainous for incredibly poor reasons. Not NEARLY impactful enough in his origin to merit him being a global supervillain bent on destruction. He's given quirks, a villainous image with a long trench coat and a signature weapon, but his origin story... would lead him down a path moreso towards being a HERO than a villain. And his decisions as the villain make ZERO sense to his moments of development. (SPOILER AHEAD, SKIP TO THE NEXT PARTAGRAPH IF YOU WANT TO AVOID SPOILERS) His critical turning point (meant to be his turn from good to evil) doesn't merit the actions he takes throughout the movie. The man showed extreme empathy and care to zombies because he still saw them as people until his squadmate starting mowing them down infront of him. As soon as his squadmate is gravely injured, after being shown there's nothing he can do to help, he chooses to try and mercy-kill him the way his squadmate did... except his squadmate clings to life and fights back (which also makes little sense to his convictions but makes sense to me on a human level... even though he knows he's doomed) Dylan kills him in an effort not only to stop the spread of the infection, but now to protect himself from his rabid squadmate. THOSE ACTIONS ALONE do not merit a supervillain emarking on a quest for global biological terrorism. If I were to put the RE films in order (CGI, not the live action) I'd say: 1. Vendetta 2. Damnation 3. Degeneration 4. Death Island Vendetta hit the apex of visual excellence, choreography, animation, character development, body horror, venue design, and the FINAL BOSS SCENE was incredible. I think one of the main tenants of Resident Evil is watching someone transform from human into a biological monstrosity in a very Darwin-like way to make it as dangerous as possible while it becomes adapted to its environment immediately around it to kill the protagonist. In Death Island, you never truly see anyone TRANSFORM into a monster the way Degeneration did it, the way Damnation kind of did it, the way Vendetta did it... (SPOILER AGAIN, SKIP TO NEXT PARAGRAPH) the only "transformation" in this movie is Dylan, the terrible villain of the story, injects himself with a heavy dose of the virus, and falls into the water to converge with a shark-like BOW to make one massive monster... but you merely go from him falling into the water, HE DISAPPEARS, and he just springs up as a giant monstrosity without seeing him grow, evolve, transform, suffer, etc. We don't see the horror (in a HORROR FRANCHISE) of becoming such a goliath beast of a being. Final thoughts... Weakest of the films, however, best looking character models. The villain's motivations for becoming the world-ending supervillain are hollow at best/ non-existent at worst. And we are deprived of seeing the horrifying elements of watching the virus we know bend and mold flesh into beasts. The best moments of this film are... in the beginning when Jill fights with a zombie in a house and when Leon fights the catwoman-suited lady from Vendetta that we NEVER SAW HER DO ANYTHING until this movie lol she's just inhumanly strong with no phsycial abnormalities from her viral enhancement, infact, she's just hot and powerful. No explanation or visual demonstration of why. She's just HOT and SUPER STRONG lol Anyway, if you're an avid consumer of RE content, you won't be too bothered by my issues, I guess, but if you know where the greatness is in these RE movies and when the creators and artists of these films are doing their best work... heed my warnings lol Weak villain, very little body horror, motivations are hollow. But the action is as excellent as always!
