Worked great on my brothers 2005 chevy malibu 2.2 ecotec engine
Worked great on my brothers 2005 chevy malibu 2.2 ecotec engine. Very easy to install and remove. The two black nuts in the middle are the same size nuts, 10mm, as the timing cover you need to remove and the 3 bolts on the timing sprocket you need to remove. Construction is solid. I really liked that the two bolts made to go into the timing sprocket are not able to fall out, they have some type of stopper. That was one less thing to worry about falling into the timing chain cover....Few recommendations if you are doing this job yourself:First watch a few videos, I did not find any for a 2005 malibu but the videos I did watch on the 2.2 ecotec motor were very helpful.Second is shove a rag or paper towels in the gap on the bottom, enough that nothing can fall through but no to far in that you can't get the rag/towel out, got that idea off youtube. Finally either invest in a magnetic 10mm deep socket or search youtube on how to magnetize your current socket. I rigged up my 10mm deep socket with a couple small magnets to keep the nuts in place, worked like a charm. But will be converting my sockets to magnetic after watching how easy it was on youtube.

also don't move the tools bolts that hold the sprocket after the water pump is removed it makes it a little more difficult when installing the new water pump and last try your best to align the water pump shaft so its easier ...
does the job, fyi when your in that timing cover opening (4 10mm bolts cover) stuff some shop rags in there to prevent the sprocket bolts from falling into the cover or oil pan if you drop them by accident because there is still a gap from where you secure it to the timing cover and the sprocket after you install the tool.I hope that helps. also don't move the tools bolts that hold the sprocket after the water pump is removed it makes it a little more difficult when installing the new water pump and last try your best to align the water pump shaft so its easier to bolt it to the sprocket.

Have to have tool for these water pump jobs.
Like my other abn tools it's quality, tool trucks are outrageous, I haven't been on on sense I discovered Amazon prime. Most tools on the trucks are just rebranded, and marked up 400%

Whine Whine Whine
Junk. Used the tool as designed and still have the timing chain whine after the job is complete. Should have pulled the timing cover and skipped this tool.

Great tool
This made waterpump replacement a breeze to do access to all waterpump bolts when the holder is bolted to the gear made of heavy guage metal and the bolts are held in so they can't fall out

Great quality!!!
I am impressed with quality and it works great. I Love the fact it retains the mounting bolts within itself. I know many technicians will love that as well as it quality. Fast shipping and no complaints only praise.

Awesome tool
This tool did exactly what it was supposed to! I don`t plan on doing too many water pumps that will need this tool,so I didn`t want to spend nearly $50 for a different brand.Worked great and it was only around $15! I can live with that!

This Part Saved Me 100's Of Dollars !
Anyone that changes the water pump on an Ecotec 2.2 engine, NEEDS one of these to perform this operation.Buying one of my own, and having a mechanic friend install the water pump, saved me from taking my car to a shop, where my wallet would have been abused, badly.
