Hidden Pictures: A Novel

Well Done!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story with the pictures to help visualize everything yourself. They were haunting and beautiful and kept you entranced. What a unique and different way of writing a novel for adults. First book read by Jason and can’t wait to read others.

I'm looking forward to reading Jason's upcoming release!
I REALLY enjoyed this book. Think, bought it on Audible to listen on the way to work but got hooked so I bought it on Kindle so I could binge it at home good😂I like how the author created a backstory for the character that would make it easy for others to doubt her when she started having concerns about Teddy.Catherine and Ted seem like such wonderful parents. Ted was a little rough around the edges and Catherine is a successful psychologist specializing in substance abuse and recovery. It's clear that while Catherine adores Teddy, she's struggling with the guilt of being a working mother. This book had me stressing the entire time because I didn't know whether these strange things happening in the house were real or just a symptom of the FMC relapsing. I know that was the intention behind her backstory and the author wanted us to feel that way.I enjoyed the flow of the book, and how it kept you guessing until the end. I wasn't expecting that twist at the end. While I was disapointed with how things were wrapped up, I also found them realistic. It makes sense that Teddy wouldn't want to continue having a relationship with the FMC after all the trauma they went through.Overall I thought this was a wonderful book, and I'm looking forward to reading Jason's upcoming release!

Wow! what a page turner!!!
Such an amazing psychological suspense novel with a pinch of Stephen King. Loved this book….The protagonist Mallory was very endearing and definitely someone you want to cheer for. She is a recovery addict. In fact, the story begins with her stumbling into a college arena for a paid scientific experiment. She’s not sure what they’re going to do and she doesn’t really care. She just needs the money for a fix. When her name is finally called, she goes into a room with a woman and five men sitting in front of her. They place a blindfold on her and tell her she is to raise her hand. Every time she feels one of the men looking at her as the Tesco. She does this when she senses them looking at her and at the end of the test, all the men applied her efforts and she has told that she does the best of anyone so far, the scientist asked if she’d be willing to come back for more testing. Mallory says if you pay me I’ll come back as much as you want. But later that night she sells her iPhone in order to get more drugs, and she never hears from the woman again. That is the end of the prologue , the story starts when Mallory is 18 months from drug use and is living in a sober home. Her sponsor her a connection of his is offering her an interview to be a nanny in an upscale neighborhood. This was one of the first parts of the book I really didn’t like. As a person in long-term recovery myself who has nearly 16 years of recovery. (Most within the 12 step world - AA) I want to point out to others that some of the things in this book are nowhere near the reality. It is very rare for a person to have a sponsor of the opposite sex. in the story Mallory explains that she chose Russell because he’s a former Olympic running trainer, and she was also an elite runner. However, as I said, none of that really matters as it is very rare for somebody to have a sponsor of an opposite sex. Any rational person in 12 steps that does sponsorship would never agree to sponsoring someone of the opposite sex for obvious reasons.Another thing in regards to recovery, Mallory states she doesn’t drink caffeine because it is a stimulant. Although some people in recovery make this choice it too is rare and I feel like it is somewhat stigmatizing and makes people believe people in recovery are all walking time bombs… The last thing I want to mention in regards to recovery and this is a minor spoiler so please skip this section. If you don’t want to read this now, however it is a minor spoiler. Later in the story, Mallory tells Russell some things that are very hard to believe and he looks at her like she may have relapsed, so she says to him go ahead and you can test me if you want (drug test). And Russell does. Again this is very rare and should never happen. Drug testing is not part of the 12-steps. We work an honesty program.Mallory gets the job and is in love with the family and fresh start she has. However, soon Mallory starts to notice strange drawings from the little boy she is taking care of. They seem like an omen.Mallory makes some assumption based on history she learns about the property and things start to get creepier. Stephen King like… but This is not your average horror story, in fact it isn’t at all. It’s psychological Suspense novel and of course the twists start popping up.This was a very exciting page turner and one that I could have easily read in one sitting. If you are a fan of psychological suspense novels this is a must read.

Trust your instincts
This book was really good. Well written and kept my interest. It did get wordy at some points in the story. The book could’ve easily been a 5 star ⭐️ if the author would’ve elaborated more on the experiment with the doctor and the end of the book. The ending was kind of a flop, yet the story itself makes it worth reading. It begins with a young woman who became a drug addict. She goes to a hospital for a strange experiment the university is conducting to see who has a 6th sense of someone staring at them while blindfolded. 18 months later she is clean and has a sponsor who is also an athletic coach. He truly cares about her and helps her find a good position as a nanny for a 5 yr old boy. She works for a couple and the wife happens to be a psychiatrist who believes in helping ppl who have recovered from addiction. The couple off the bat seems nice and welcoming, yet there is something notably off. They have a strict set of rules the nanny must abide by that have some red flags. Their son Teddy is amazing yet some things he does is not normal for his age, like he doesn’t want to meet other boys his own age he only wants to play with Mallory (the nanny), he draws a lot of pictures and some have his imaginary friend Anya in them in disturbing scenes - like being buried. And lastly, when he goes in his room for quit time, Mallory can hear him speaking to someone and drawing/sketching pictures that are a little too advanced for someone his age. Mallory is told by the neighbors there was an unsolved murder that happened to a young woman named Annie in the 1940’s. She is convicted it’s Annie who is contacting the little boy and he’s just calling her Anya. Until she begins to dig too much and it turns out the parents really don’t appreciate her observations and theories….,Many twists and turns in this book. Definitely recommend.

WOW 5 Mesmerizing Stars - Just read it !!
My Rating : ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Mesmerizing StarsY’all I loved this book , it was so different and I was instantly enamoured and was fully committed to this unique and memorable story.“If you start poking your noses into family secrets, someone may bite them off .”This is my second read by Jason and I’ve learned that his writing style for me is like medicine for my eyes . His writing. Is so descriptive and visual that I truly feel I am cast as a shadow following the narrator through the story.Mallory is a very likeable character that is 18 months sober and is being interviewed for a nanny position her sponsor has landed for her .She is so nervous and desperately wants a second chance at life and putting her past behind her .Quickly things get crazy weird and there is a sense of super natural threads webbed though out the story and boy let me tell yah things get wild & SO TWISTED I think my neighbours heard my gasps !!If your looking for an interesting Unputdownable super natural thriller , look no further Hidden Pictures is great story telling at its finest and I now know I will read everything @jasonrekulak writes 🖤QOTD~ Are you artistic, good a drawing ?
