Perfect fit.
You are looking at a 45 year old Sure SM58. I was a Touring Audio Engineer for Sounds Good, Inc. from 1973 to 1885 and worked exclusively got International acts with a 30,000 seat flying sound system You would be shocked to know how many very famous people have used this mic. It's one of the things I kept when I moved on to another career. In the pictures you can see both of these covers are similar but there are some minor differences. The element cover on the left is the original and the one on the right is the new one. On the Mic, is the new replacement screen. Look closely and you will see that the mesh on the original is a little tighter than the replacement. The replacement is also about 3/16" taller. Not a big deal. I got this to replace the original because the acoustic foam in the inside of the original screen is starting to dry rot. I need to contact Sure in the near future for some replacement foam. It's glued in and a lot of work removing it all and glueing the new foam back in. Yes, it needs a 'special' glue. Thank goodness for ultrasonic cleaners. All in all, this is a very nice replacement screen/cover and it's made quite well. The asking price for this is crazy good. I can easily recommend this if you are in need of one of these. Very good product.

Perfect replacement
In today's world there are thousands of different mics for all kinds of various use. I've tried and used many of these through the years, but somehow always come back to my one tried and true mic, the Shure SM58. The one I have has been with me for over 30 years. That means 30 years of use and yes, abuse. What happens is over time, the inner screen will start to dry out and basically start to fall apart. Sometimes it's not obvious sound wise, but you may notice that your sound isn't quite as defined as you remember it once being. At this point, it's time to retire that old worn out screen and get a new one. So I was very happy to find this particular one. It's well made and to be honest, I can't tell the difference between this new one and my old screen. It fits perfectly and gives your mic that brand new look, basically breathing life into an old and reliable friend. If I'm lucky, hopefully I can get 30 more years of use with what has always been my favorite mic. Thank you.

Not just for the SM58
I’ve got a pair of Carvin CM68 microphones that I’ve owned for over 20 years, and still work wonderfully. After much road use over all that time they’ve got more than their fair share of dents and dings in the grilles, to the point they could actually scratch your lips if you happened to make contact. To temporarily solve the problem, I had previously placed foam wind screens over their tops. Needless to say the look of that is unruly, and worse makes them harder to handle by lead vocalists using the mics in-hand. I’ve since discovered these microphones are basically clones of the SM58, so at this low price I thought I’d roll the bones and try one out. Sure enough, it fits perfectly. Quality of materials is great, just as good as the originals with an identical inner foam filter. Since I now know this product is compatible, I’ll be ordering a 4-pack for a few bucks more to replace the one on the other CM68 and have three spares to boot!

Great for customization
My significant other is a vocalist in everything from rock bands to opera, and her "go to" mic that she uses for everything ha been looking rough. I decided to fix it up a bit- this head is a perfect fit and looks exactly like a new one from Shure. I removed the foam insert, cleaned it completely and painted it in her favorite color. This will also keep her mic from getting mixed in with any rentals or ones that belong to some of the other musicians. If you paint in very light coats, it's possible to make these look great in any color. Bring those old beat and smelly microphones back to life! Absolutely perfect product.

A perfect aftermarket fit
I got this mic head to have as a back up for the Shure SM58 mics I use. The original metal heads are durable, but do have a definite life span. I was concerned that an aftermarket product might not be an exact fit, or have a slightly different appearance. This is not the case. Photo. #1 is the Shure SM58 with original head. Photos #2 & 3 are the aftermarket head. Photo #4 is the aftermarket head attached to the SM58. The head fits perfectly: threads were an exact match. There was no issue attaching or removing the aftermarket head. I tested this on the SM58, the only mic it is designed for.
