Body By Yoga is changing my life!
I just can’t stress enough how thankful I am for ALL of Dean’s Body By Yoga DVDs. I own each one and rotate through his workouts 6 days a week, incorporating them into my daily power walking, free weights, and golf. The biggest impact is that all tightness in my lower back after power walking has dissipated because my back, legs & core are being stretched properly and are now better prepared for any type of exercise. Yoga has not only transformed my mid section by creating incredible core strength and taking off inches, but my butt and thighs have never been stronger. What I appreciate most is that his workouts are so straightforward, not too long, and full of explanation as to why each movement matters and what it does for your body. And I know that with each year that passes, no matter my age, yoga is an activity that I can sustain. And with these workouts, I am amazed that I still get excited each time I do them. Never a burden and always a challenge my body is up for!

I feel a lot better when I make the time to use the video ...
I came across some videos from this company on youtube and decided to spring for the actual DVD. Basically, I just found that I was sore all of the time when I started going back to the gym. I feel a lot better when I make the time to use the video and try to at least get in 10 to 15 minutes in the morning. Even though Ive watched the video a few times and have listened to all (and started to memorize) all of the cues and explanations, I find that I still prefer to do the guided workout with Dean rather than just doing it on my own as it helps structure my session. I’m not sure I’m a new yoga convert just yet but I am feeling the benefits and glad I made the purchase.

Yoga for athletics and fitness
Dean is the best yoga instructor I've seen. I've been following him since he started with low def YouTube videos. He shows how to use yoga to get in better shape, become stronger and more flexible for your sport, and relieve pain caused by physical activity, aging or bad posture. It's amazing he always anticipates the questions I have. He explains the poses clearly, in terms anybody can follow. This will help your sport, it will help you get better sleep, and it will reduce your aches and pains.

Great Yoga Instructor
This yoga video is challenging and require great balance. I have almost every Man Flow yoga video that Dean has put out. Great instructor that great advise on every pose and how it should be done to get maximum benefits from yoga. Rather than just doing a pose, he let's you know what muscle should be activate with en emphasis on correct body alignment.

Good exercises, poor quality control
I only use this video for the strengthening portion, so this review is only for that. I do his entire preset routine (i.e. I don't skip around to individual exercises). I'd actually rate this 3.5 stars if I could, because the exercises themselves are fantastic - serious burn and lactic acid going. My complaints are: 1. He does do a bit too much talking, once you've done it a couple times and learned the routine, it's a bit insufferable having to listen to his long talking breaks, and 2. The biggest failure of this video to me is that he spends WAAAAYYY more time on one side of the body than the other during some sequences. There's one section where it's 40% longer on the left side than the right (because he goes into one of his speeches and clearly loses his perspective of how much time has elapsed while talking). It's as though they just set up a camera and pressed record, with ZERO post editing or quality control (i.e. ensuring the exercises are balanced equally on both sides of the body). If you can remember which side you start with the last time you did the video, you can switch back and forth (i.e. when he says to lift the right leg, do the left instead) and alternate each time you do the video. But you really SHOULDN'T have to try to remember to do something like that when purchasing a professional products. My 2 cents.

Well targeted workout for athletes who want functional yoga instruction
I am doing my first triathlon and needed to find some targeted yoga to help me with my overall training. This fits the bill perfectly. There are two workouts, and also a matrix that allows me to choose what types of exercise I want to complement. (also you get to choose the type of music, which is cool)I'm already able to do intermediate level yoga, so for me the routines were more restorative than strengthening, but that's exactly what I was looking for. I did encounter some exercises I'd not seen before, and some form instruction I haven't heard before, so that's much appreciated. The instructor is practical and encouraging. This is not yoga as a spiritual practice but as athletic training.My only criticism of the format is that the dvd menu doesn't tell you how long the various options are.

The first functional yoga this beat up athlete has tried
I hate yoga because am SO very locked up from years of cycling and trail running injuries, the instructor is a named Dean, a fit chap but not one of those 'lithe impossibles;' he wobbles now and then and keeps it real. Each session short approx 20 mins and kept to only a few moves. No whiplash from moving too fast like other classes. It IS challenging but do able - not intimidating and actually enjoyable, but best of all, useful. I noticed a difference from the very first session. For the first time the message received is confidence can actually be developed in yoga. Appreciate the encouragement this provides and although have a long way to go, actually look forward to doing these 'classes.' For me, this is functional yoga and thus a more functional me - if only had this 20 years ago!
