A great little drone for fun and learning piloting skills
The media could not be loaded. Comments about the package contents• Three batteries came with the kit. Each battery holds a 7-minute charge for a total of 21 minutes flying time. I would suggest being conservative about your flying time by assuming the batteries would run out a little more quickly.• A 2-strand charging cable came with the kit as well. You can charge two batteries at a time with that cable. For me, I would want to buy one more of those 2-strand charging cables and one more battery so I can charge four batteries at a time.• Batteries for the controller were not included. AAA batteries are required.• The battery compartment is secured by a small screw as well as with a plastic latch. You'll want to be careful in handling the screw because it's easy to lose. Not that I would ever drop it on the carpet.• The controller seems to have similar actions to other Holy Stone drones. For example, the left stick goes up and then back down to pair the controller with the drone. The left and right sticks go down and to the lower left hand corner to calibrate the drone.Observations• The small size of the drone means you don't have to register it with the FAA.• One thing to be aware of is the drone does not have a camera. That's not a bad thing because you can practice your piloting as long as you keep the drone within sight. For me, that was an attractive feature for beginning drone pilots. Lack of a camera is one less thing for them to worry about when starting to learn how to pilot drones. Gaining piloting skills then prepares the drone pilot for the more expensive drones that come with cameras. The piloting skills will contribute to great photos and videos from the drone.• The rotors are enclosed, so it if bumps into something, the rotors won't cause damage/injury nor will they be damaged by collisions.• Because the rotors are enclosed, you can grab it out of mid-air with your bare hand.• I would be cautious about flying this drone outdoors unless the air is very still. The drone's size may make it susceptible to gusts.Attachments• I attached of photo of the drone and controller on letter-size (8.5 x 11 inches) paper to give a sense of the size of the two items.• The video is me launching the drone without the controller. It cuts on automatically when you toss it up. One time, I let it get stuck in our ceiling light. When I knocked it down, it started automatically and started flying again.Overall, I would highly recommend this drone for beginners. I'm not the most advanced drone pilot, so I immediately saw the potential for using this to develop one's skills at home. The ability to do things with it without the controller also have potential for fun activities. Remember when hacky sacks were a thing? I can see how these kinds of drones, flying without controllers, can be part of fun games.I added this statement after posting this review. In the interest of full transparency, Holy Stone kindly provided the drone for testing. My comments don't change. I was indeed pleased with the drone and its performance, especially for the price. It has a lot of potential to get kids interested in tech.

Great drone for the whole family!
The media could not be loaded. This is the second mini drone I’ve bought so far and it has been the better of the two. I’ve only had it for a couple weeks but my family and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Of the many positives I liked was the bright white headlight, as it helped me tell where the front was at all times, something I struggled with on the other drone. The headlight is also adjustable from straight forward to 5 positions gradually downward. There is a smaller blue light in the rear. The batteries are modular, so they easily slide in on the bottom (no plugging – unplugging wires) along with an on/off button on the bottom. This is a great improvement from the other one I have which required a small plug, wired to the battery, to be inserted into the receptacle on the bottom of the drone. Plugging in the battery turned it on and to turn it off needed to be unplugged. The on/off button on this drone solves this annoyance. Charging was easy and fairly fast. It came with a USB cable that charges 2 batteries at a time. The charging cable has a red light that will turn on when the battery is fully charged. Now the real cool thing is the sensors it has. If you turn it on and toss in the air it almost literally flies itself! Coming close to a wall it goes slightly in the opposite direction until it gets to another obstacle and senses that and adjusts it’s flight again, quite remarkable. The sensors is what allows for the hand gestures to control it as the instructions indicate.Personally I like the controller better, but I’m older than my kids and would rather not run around hand controlling the drone! The full protection guards are very good for the hands, plants and animals. Not that anyone enjoys teasing the cat or anything, but let’s just say the cat it getting real good at just swatting the thing out of the air (I really think she enjoys it!)I would recommend this drone model as great for the whole family from young to old.
