The biggest egg came with a patch which wouldn't be a huge deal if you were painting them but I use dyes/stains and it would show. See pictures for defects. Also the shape of the eggs are all different and not that pleasing to the eye IMO. They do all fit together nicely.

these are absolutely perfect. all of the wood is nice and thick, so there's no worry of it cracking while painting. I didn't have to sand any of the insides, which is normally a problem I have with blank nesting dolls. The only part I had to sand was the very top of the smallest doll. I will be uploading pics of the finished product after my mom's birthday, which I have painted these as a present for.
