Victron Energy Interface MK3-USB (VE.Bus to USB)

This little device bridges the gap created by the Bluetooth dongle for Victron inverters which does not allow to update the firmware of the inverter nor allows to configure the inverter. This Victron Energy Interface MK3-USB is what is needed to do that. Needs a computer / tablet / phone with a USB port, and the VictronConnect software / app. Worked perfectly with my 8-year-old Samsung Tab A android tablet (android version 9) for a Victron Multiplus II. The Victron Energy Interface MK3-USB comes with a standard USB-A male connector, if used with an tablet / smartphone one needs an adapter with female USB-A to male micro-USB or USB-C, depending on the tablet / phone. Note that it does not work with Apple iPhones. One also needs an ethernet patch cable (RJ45) to connect to the inverter. If a major version update of the inverter’s firmware is performed all inverter settings are reset to factory settings. Best way to handle this is to first save the current inverter settings to a file in the VictronConnect app before updating (click the disk icon in Settings). When reloading the saved settings file any changes will be highlighted and can be reviewed before accepting.

Hi This is a wonderfull little gizmo you may only ever use once a year. Along with a Windows PC, it allows you to update firmware and configure Victron VE.Bus devices. The Multi hybrid inverter / chargers are one example of what it works with. Firmware updates are now a way of life for most devices. That's made it into the world of power. Configuration has gotten complex enough on high end devices that dip switches may or may not let you do what you need to do. The more exotic your application, the more likely you are to need this to configure things. Operationally it's no harder to use than most similar devices. It's not as simple as an app on a phone that hooks up over Bluetooth. The intended audience is a pro installer rather than an end user. Indeed, if you are paying somebody else to put in your system, this probably will not be on your list of things to buy. If you have buddies with Victron gear, borrow one and / or let them update your gizmo. One other use for this is after pulling wires from "way back there" to "all the way up here". There is always a question of "did we break something" after all the tugging and pulling. Firing this up with the other end plugged into your device is a quick way to make sure all is well. There are other ways to check a cable. I would not buy one of these just to do that. If you have it sitting there ... use it. Worth the money if you have a device that needs it. Bob

This device was easy to use with no issues. It’s a must have device if you want to program your Victron multi plus. No good reason this could not have been built into the multi plus inverter. victron makes great equipment but this seems like a way to nickel and dime the end-user.

A necessary item to apply updates to some Victron gear. Had to fiddle with it a bit before it was able to be recognized. Had to plug and unplug a few times on the ethernet side. Once connected, it worked. Only works with Windows.

This interface gives me detailed information on the health of my inverter. With it I was able to diagnose a problem I had been having and get my system back to 100%.

Enheten funkar perfekt, men det jag inte förstår är varför inte detta är inbyggt i Victron enheterna från början, för att konfigurera produkterna direkt. App-gränssnittet är tillräckligt bra för att detta skulle vara en helt onödig produkt. Men nu funkar allt som det ska!

Cher mais indispensable pour configurer divers appareils Victron. Pour ma part c'est un MultiPlus 48/1600. Info importante que l'on trouve dans la doc du VE Bus c'est le mot de passe pour configurer le multiplus à travers le VE Bus: zzz (3 fois z minuscule)

Essenziale per la configurazione del Multiplus ed eventuale successiva modifica dei parametri, soprattutto nelle installazioni fai-da-te, poiché il dongle bluetooth permette solo accensione/spegnimento, settaggio degli ampere in ingresso e visualizzazione dei parametri elettrici. Software installato senza difficoltà.
