Sierra Designs Men's Gnar Lite Jacket

OK, I believe that this jacket is pretty much the perfect jacket for daily wear in the Southern climate. I have worn it almost every day since I got it. Our climate is fairly mild so I often wear this with a t-shirt or short sleeved polo. If it gets colder, I wear a long sleeved shirt. The couple of times it was very cold and windy, I slipped a shell over it which worked well. Very comfortable even down into freezing temperatures. I hate carrying around a heavy coat when I go inside a store, etc. This jacket is very lightweight. It does stuff down into the small sack and I plan on carrying it with me almost always when traveling in the future.It does have a water resistant finish. I haven't had to spend much time in the rain but walking from my car into buildings, I notice the rain beading and running off and the jacket wasn't damp.My wife has been in the hospital a couple of times recently and I have had to spend the night. The hospital rooms tend to be cold in the middle of the night and I slept in the jacket several times...I was comfortably warm even though I wasn't comfortable.

The fabric is the coolest thing about this jacket—though sometimes it seems a little loud (read disco). I've used mine in the desert and was really impressed. It's fast to warm, easy to have around and the long sleeves make up for those moments when you wished you had your gloves. The down rating seems accurate and I managed to use tee-shirts most days It excels with thin merino under layers—light weight and wonderfully warm (not sweating) combination. Incredibly light. Great for jumping in and out of vehicles too.Mine washed up really well and I was amazed how fast it dried. I brought it in case things got wet with bad weather and I didn't want to double up with synthetic layers. This wasn't tested but following the washing I was impressed. It's a keeper.

I got this jacket without having to wait too long. My wife got the same jacket for women's which fits her really well, but for her case, I think the jacket may need some TLC especially near areas that compress because she experienced some migrating feathers. These plumes were hard to push back in. My jacket is doing fine, no feathers escaping but it also isn't a daily wear. The jacket is lightweight and the temperature range is wider than my fleece which tends to get too warm. The stuff sack is a nice touch along with the thumb loops in the sleeves.

Good jacket. Men's small fits me (5'8" and 140 lbs) like a glove. My only problem with the jacket is that every time I wear it, it leaks a dozen or so feathers. Enough to draw your attention to it. I'm slightly concerned about the wisdom of compressing the jacket much, since it already leaks down.

jacket is very warm and has a comfortable fit. have not used it during any outdoor adventures yet but have no doubt it will perform well. you can tell the down is high quality and compresses nicely. i washed it along with another non-dridown jacket and there is an obvious difference between the two when they are soaking wet. the dridown jacket dries faster and still holds some thickness when wet. it's obviously not waterproof, but is not meant to be. i'm looking to buy a dridown sleeping bag based on how well the jacket performs in wet conditions.

and love them all! they pack to the size of a mango, feel like a light outer sweater, and are very warm. With a windbreaker outer it was perfect for hiking the glacier in Norway. Both 20 something girls and 50 something husband wear them frequently in town. and they are always in the suitcase. Love the thumb thing at the end of the sleeve. Highly recommend if they are still available!

The jacket is ok, but it lose a lot of feathers. It's not suitable for a person with asthma.

incredible jacket, never have I had one better. Feels like I am wearing nothing at all. dries quickly. Buy one
