My experience with these tippet rings should be a warning to anyone who is considering buying them. Before using the SF tippet rings in the stream, I decided to test them at home. I spent an hour tying my tippet(s) to the SF rings with clinch and improved clinch knots Every clinch (and improved clinch) knot that I tied to the SF tippet ring snapped at the ring when I put minor tension between the ring and my tippet line (Scientific Angler 5x). Clinch knots between Rio PowerFlex 5x tippet line and the SF ring also broke at the ring, so the tippet line is not the source of the problem. I also tested a different SF ring from the batch of 25 that I purchased, but the clinch knots also snapped with that ring. In all cases, the knots/tippet snapped under far less tension than a decent trout would place on the line. In case you're worried that the real problem is my clinch knot (!), the clinch knots that I used to tie my Rio 5X tippet line to a high quality, round-edged tippet ring from a fly shop held firm under much higher tension than for the SF ring. The square edges on the SF rings thus appear to be weakening and cutting through the tippet line. My SF rings are in the garbage and I'm once again reminded that you get what you pay for.

These are TINY! That's a good thing for their intended use. They do not seem to add any undue weight to the leader, tippet junction. A good item for those who hate tying to lines together. They work as expected and perform well.

They are well made and a great price point compared to others on the market. 2mm and 25# test is perfect for trout leaders.
