Stainless Steel Spring T-Hinge for Wooden Gate, Wood Fence, Shed, Barn, Heavy Duty 7-Inch

We got this to replace a hinge on our fence gate. It works as expected and was easy to install.

This door hing is freakin' huge and very sturdy. My son is able to use just one of these to attach a large, heavy cardboard door onto his cardboard fort. He loves that you can adjust the steel spring so that it closes at just the right speed and power. Having a door that closes quickly behind you is very important when you are trying to keep the zombie horde stragglers (Dad) out of your fort. (I suppose it could also help keep a cat inside your home.)

I ordered this because I've had experience building and installing several gates in fences at my home; so I am interested in seeing how this is built compared to the previous hinges I've installed. Also, in Florida, the idea of using stainless really makes sense due to the usually high humidity levels, frequent rain and (in some areas) salt spray. I live somewhat inland; so the salt spray isn't serious, but I've had screws, bolts and other exterior hardware corrode away and need replacing over a period of months and years. My first impression was that this hinge looks very well manufactured. The unit I received is mill finished (rather than painted) and does not appear to have any sharp edges. It has an auto closing feature that I've seen on some gate hinges before. This feature closes the gate automatically, and the force can be adjusted. After my initial examination, I walked the hinge around to my gates to see how it compared to the existing ones. To my surprise, I found that it is very similar to a pair that I installed on one of my gates several years ago. The stamped manufacturer's name also seems to be the same. The older hinges have held up well in a damp, shaded location; so I believe that this hinge would do so as well.

looks nice, but the spring part of it did not work for my wooden 5ft gate.The hinge held up but not the spring part, which is why I picked this hinge. Perhaps a 5ft gate is too much for the hinge. I tested the hinge prior to installing and it does have bounce back, so maybe it will work for a 3ft or 4ft gate.

This is a great quality stainless steel hinge! It also comes with really great quality and heavy duty screws. We use this to replace our chicken coop door hinge so far it seems like a great success and we’re really happy with the quality of the product. I will be posting an update as soon as it goes through some weather to let you know how weather resistant it is. We get a lot of rain and have had a lot of snow fall this year so we will see how it holds up and if any rust occurs.Weather update: We have had heavy rain, hail, and some snow and the hinge still looks brand new. This hinge has great durability!

This was a replacement for a hinge on my back gate. This is a very heavy spring hinge. It installed very easily and it works well. Nice product.

Heads up, there’s only one stainless steel hinge in this package that you can obviously see, but will need at least two or three in case you are using it for a gate such as what I’m using it for. I am replacing the corroded old ones due to age and outside elements and looks like this one will fair well for that. Made of stainless steel, looks durable. I like that it’s got adjustable tension for easy automatic closing. It’s big heavy duty and will work perfect for what my intended use is. Size is perfect for my wooden gate. I can see why it’s saying ornamental, design is pretty to look at. Comes with heavy duty screws, well made and will hold the hinge perfectly and it’s durable.

This single hinge is very large and will hold up a very heavy gate. From Harrier Hardware, this hinge has a spring inside that you can adjust to the self-closing pressure you need. Comes with adjusting rod and stud you need to set the spring tension. There is a warning that if you try to overtighten, it will break the spring. It also comes with 5 heavy duty screws for mounting in your post and wooden gate. Stainless steel resists rusting.I will need two of these to control the large gate I have to the back yard. I think these are quality-built and highly recommend.
