All working now after replacement =D
Update 2: Just received a replacement from Cable Matters, and as expected, Windows 10 recognized the device instantly without needing to install driver manually, on USB 3.0 ports!! Good speed and reliable connection after 2-hour gaming/streaming! The first adapter should have worked the first time but I'm giving it a five star for the company's fast response and easy resolution. They included prepaid envelop for me to drop off and return the original adapter to them. The first adapter must have been defective. So anyone having issue with this adapter working on USB 3.0 ports should try getting into contact with Cable Matters. They can probably take care of you very well =) Update: after reading reviews for another product on Amazon, I found people are having issues with USB 3.0 ports. So I tried this adapter on a USB 2.0 port, and boom it worked, even without manually installing drivers as Windows 10 recognized the device and downloaded driver by itself! However, I bought this cable for my laptop, which does not have a USB 2.0 port. If anyone successfully used this adapter on a USB 3.0 port in Windows 10, please let me know. Much appreciation! I don't know how other people can get this thing (UBS 3.0 Version) connected to their computers. There should be no driver needed for Windows 10, because the Windows was able to detect the driver and install them automatically. Even so, after it failed to work that way, I had hope that maybe using a driver directly from the ASIX website, magic will happen. It turns out magic rarely happens. Tried the latest standalone driver as well as the driver installer directly from ASIX, Windows 10 is still giving hardware malfunction notice. Specifically, I've attached the error message to this review as screenshots. First one is the pop-up notification, the second one was the window that gives more info after you click the error message in the notification center. I tried this adapter across various Windows 10 machines and it failed to work on all alike. I suspect a defective hardware. Bummer. I was getting this adapter in a rush to get a project done, but now I'll have to wait for another couple days.

FINALLY an ethernet adapter that works with ONN 4K PRO
I have gone through 3 other ethernet adapter brands and this is the first that worked out of the box with my ONN 4k Pro streaming box. I plugged the Cable Matters into my ONNs USB slot then attached my ethernet cable from my router to the other end of the Cable Matters adapter and turned the ONN streamer back on. Instantly the ONN recognized my internet! For the price, you can't go wrong. Glad I didn't give up trying to find an ethernet adapter that really works as a true plug and play for my streaming box.. Just as a note, my TV is a TCL Roku smart TV and the Cable Matters adapter and ONN 4k pro streamer ( 1st gen) all work great together.

Cable for smooth playback for your TV
The reason I bought this is because my smart tv kept stopping to load 4k vids so I added this to my usb port on the back of my TV and the loading prompt went away. Make sure you use the faster 3.0 USB port for best results. I believe I tried it on my laptop to see it it worked after I couldn't get it to properly work with my TV. Then I plugged it back into my TV and it worked just fine. Don't know what the issue was with it not being recognized initially but it sure works now after I tested it with my laptop. I can almost get the full 1 gig now which is better than what I was getting with wifi and the network port on the back of my TV

Smart TV bandwidth improvement
I purchased this dongle specifically to improve the available bandwidth on my new TCL Android/Google TV (55q550g) smart TV. After several tries with other dongles that didn't work, this dongle automatically set up properly, and is delivering 500-800 mbps upload and download service to my TV. I would suspect any recent TCL or other brand smart TV with 3.0 USB port would deliver similar performance. Good choice to expand usable bandwidth for TVs on a stable gigabit ethernet LAN.

Good product, quick delivery
Good product, it works on my new LG G5 TV. Unfortunately the quite expensive G5 TV doesn't have USB3.0. My max ISP is 1Gb/s but apparently by USB2.0 the speed won't get much higher than 300Mb/s. The current speed is fine but I don't understand why LG (and other brands aswell) don't supply these expensive TV's with a decent(not much more expensive) 1Gb/s LAN connection. Now you would say WiFi6e of which the LG G5 supports is enough. And yes my routers do support 6e they even do WiFi7. But it isn't in some cases. For example if you wanne stream 4K60fps HDR content, which you recorded with your smartphone, directly to the TV it doesn't work. The video will buffer all the time or the bit rate will be scaled down a lot. When you connect the TV to the onboard 100Mb/s LAN connection the TV is just able to handle it. But now with this adapter it goes even better. My guess is WiFi6e still ain't Full-Duplex and UTP is and that apparently makes a big difference.

Works as expected with LG C8
This adaptor (Adaptor USB 3.0) works great with an LG C8 TV. I can now have USB 2 speeds (~400 Mbps) instead of 100 Mbps that the onboard ethernet port offers. In practice, the maximum bitrate of a movie I managed to play without any hiccups on PLEX app was 180 Mbps. Based on other reviews and forums I found out that this is the only adaptor from Cable Matters that works with LG C8. For example, a previous reviewer states that the adaptor doesn't work anymore with LG TVs but he bought the adaptor "1 Gigabit LAN + USB" and not the "Adaptor USB 3.0", which has a different chip and I assume thats the reason it doesn't work for his case, so don't be discouraged by that review. That reviewer also fails to mention the exact model of his TV. Other than being able to play movies with bitrate higher than 100 Mbps, I also noticed a faster response while jumping forward or backward in a video. All things considered, this is a great purchase, 10/10.

Sehr gut, geht auch am Fire TV Cube
Top, geh't nicht nur am SONY Bravia, sondern auch am Fire TV Cube. Einfach einstecken. Vorher, über Fire Cube Ethernet 85-90MB. Jetzt: 260MB, volle Ausreizung meines Internets am USB2.0 Anschluss vom Fire Cube. Top!!
