Clean puck knockout and shower screen, without losing headspace
Keeps shower screen nicely clean, and avoid some channeling, all without losing the headspace that you lose when you use a typical metal filter. This way you still benefit from the slow headspace fillup mimicking preinfusion if you don't have pre infusion capabilities.Only downside, it's difficult to remove to clean. Expect to have to push the screen in slightly to raise one edge up, then it will fall out when the portafilter is inverted.

So far so good
Really good screen, liking the fact that it’s blacked and the alloy used doesn’t get too warm.It doesn’t necessarily replace the need of a good puck prep but defensively makes the coffee machine less dirty and offer a better water distribution.Would recommend

Makes a difference
I was struggling to avoid channeling and my shots were becoming watery. Also found cleaning the shower screen all the time quite tedious. This really helps with both issues. Much more even flow, better shots and keeps the brewhead clean. Good purchase and well worth adding to your coffee making routine.

Very Thin But Works Well.
Compared to my normal puck screen this one is really thin and I have to say looks a bit fragile especially as it has hardly any weight to it, it is though much tougher than it looks. All these puck screens work in the same way and give an even flow of water over the coffee puck and this one works just as well as others I have tried, where I find it better is holding up to the light I can cleary see every hole as the light shines through, holding up my normal metal version no light gets through because it's a mesh construction, I am in thinking that being mesh it will trap small particles of coffee grind within the mesh, with this one that can not really happen so it's much easier to keep this clean.Another reason for me that puts this slightly ahead of a mesh filter is when knocking out the puck, I tend to tap the portafilter on the knock box bar just enough to dislodge the screen and catch it in my hand, being metal it can be very hot, this one although still hot is not as hot and much easier to hold and put down before finishing knocking out the puck.I can not really find any negatives with this product, it looks good works well and easy to keep clean.

Meh.
It's OK. Annoyingly it's just a bit too small in thickness. The quality is on point as is most of normcore stuff. The value isn't brilliant, and the functionality is just so so, because I've found it's slight too small in size width ways so it doesn't sit perfectly on the puck. Get a cheaper one.

Well made but poor description
It’s clearly well made but it won’t for your sage barista touch standard basket. I can’t give it more than 3 as I can’t use it as well made as it is.

Useful disc to that improves water infusion in my Sage Coffee Machine filter
Its designed to help to prevent channeling through the coffee group head filter. Channeling makes the coffee less smooth in flavour as water finds a path of least resistance through the ground coffee causing the coffee within that path to be over extracted. For me it seemed to work very well although I do not have a bare group filter which helps to see if channeling was still occurring.I pop it over the top of my ground coffee after tamping before extracting. The coffee is noticeably smoother in flavour which is the result I was expecting. Its also simple to wash. I give it a quick rinse with water from my boiling tap and it is instantly ready for reuse.Overall its a fantastic product and I am really pleased with it.

Consistenly Great Shots
As a self-confessed espresso fanatic, I have over the years bought many gadgets and gizmos that claim to improve the quality of my espresso shots and, while some of them have made an almost imperceptible improvement, most of them have failed completely. The main feature of my espresso-making history seems to be inconsistency; I have never been able to pull a consistently great shot every day, despite following all the normal rules – freshly roasted coffee, ‘dialled-in’ grind, correct temperature and so on.On some days, I could make a truly excellent espresso – great crema, no sourness, good acidity balance, sweet/bitter caramel taste - but on other days, it would be just ‘ok’ – never constantly superb; until now.I have to say that I have tried puck screens before. In the past, I tried a 50μm (0.05mm) puck screen but it made little difference, except to reduce the amount of coffee I could grind into the portafilter, so I just stopped using it.However, this screen is considerably thinner than the 50μm, (more so than I would have expected - as you can see in the photo) and, since using it, all the negative variables seem to have disappeared from my espresso-making. So far, I have been delighted with every single (and double) espresso shot I have made, which has never been the case in the past.If you really want consistently good espresso shots, I would highly recommend that you try this screen; it certainly worked for me.
