Perfect for keeping cat and kitten safely apart while they get to know each other
Somehow I've become the... Hmm, he's a cat so "owner" seems wildly optimistic on my part, let's say "host and caretaker" of a five or six week old kitten who I've named "Citizen Doctor Abraham Merhermblur" - hat tip to Brennan Lee Mulligan. This is of course a source of great annoyance for my three year old "semi-nese" cat Pyewacket who is currently letting me share my house with her. There's been lots of hissing on her part and given that she outweighs him by about 10 to one I thought that keeping them semi-separated during the introduction period was a good idea. For the first couple of days I've managed this - well sort of managed this - with a large cat carrier for overnight, and by blocking off the half bath downstairs with a large sheet of Styrofoam during the days, a situation that not only wasn't great for him, but kind of prevented most interactions between the two of them. Also I had to go upstairs to use the bathroom myself :)Enter the Paw Ballet foldy pen thing. I was originally looking at the round style pens, but the reviews for that style seem to universally mention that the bottoms are held in place with velcro tabs which many pets seems to know how to undo. Happily this is a single piece - that is the top, sides, and bottom are permanently stitched together, so he won't be slipping under the edges. It has side openings on front and back plus a large opening on top which makes cleaning his pan easier. As he only weighs about a pound and a half the pen is huge for him so there's plenty of room to bumble around - hasn't quite got that feline sense of balance up to speed yet.It arrived very quickly, and in good shape - I know that damage during shipping isn't the fault of the seller, but in a lot of reviews they seem to take the blame, so I wanted to give them the credit when it turned up on time and in perfect condition :)The instructions are clear - and as a bonus for my far too old eyeballs, they're NOT printed on medium gray paper using a four point font in a slightly lighter shade of gray. They're large and clear and easy to read. And the full instructions are three steps comprising nine words, with three photos. It's really quite simple. A few reviews mentioned that the rods are hard to assemble - for the sake of portability each of the eight support rods can be broken down into two pieces which are held together with an elastic cord inside them sort of like the mobility canes used by the visually impaired. I didn't have any issues, though I will grant that that slotting them together takes a little more "push" than I thought, so the first rod I put together appeared too long to fit. A little extra "uumpfh" and it they fit with no trouble. For me it's not an issue at all because I don't plan on regularly disassembling and reassembling the pen. If I were routinely packing and unpacking it I might feel differently but my very first time putting it together took at most five minutes, and the entire pen - rods and all - folds up and fits into a nylon zipper bag about a foot square, so it doesn't seem like it's too onerous a process for the portability that's gained. If I work hard to find anything to gripe about, there's a water bottle holder on the side but I can't figure out if there should be a hole for a nozzle to fit through. The instructions mention that there's more information on the product page but I wasn't able to find it. Of course Dr Merhermblur already has a water dish, so it's not an issue as far as I'm concerned but if that's something that you specifically want be aware of it.All in all I'm perfectly happy with the pen. Dr Merhermblur and Pyewacket - sounds like an 80s crime procedural - seem displeased but they're cats so they have a certain standard level of disdain which they have to maintain at all times :)It's a perfect solution for me.

My cat tore the mesh side & escaped in three minutes.
I wanted a carrier to confine my cat for a long car trip so she wouldn't be in a carrier for ten hours. This product was light weight and spacious for my small cat. I put her in it to get her used to it the day before our trip. She tore the mesh side & escaped in three minutes. Not a good product for cats.

Durability and size
This is the best investment I have ever bought! We had 3 day old kittens from a feral mother cat who died. So my family decided to raise them and bottle feed them and do everything to help them grow. Then by the time they were 3 weeks to a month old, they were running around everywhere. I saw this kitten playpen and bought it. Super easy to put up and two side zippers and 1 on the top. It is perfect.Durable and kept the kitties safe and in one place. I highly recommend this to all who need a place to kept kitties safe! Well now the kittens are 4 months old and no longer need it,but you can still use it for older cats. Mine prefer to roam around in the house and occasionally outside. I have now passed this fabulous playpen on to a friend who just required a couple of newborn kitties. I'm glad to say that my kitties now have new forever families. I did however keep the white calico for myself.

Good size but a pain to set up
The spokes don't fit right in the slots without a decent bit of working since they seem too long, and the top keeps wanting to curl back into a circle. If you bump it too hard, it basically folds up on itself. That being said, it's super roomy and very light weight. I was worried about my cat ripping it up initially but it seems to withstand her claws!

Nice playpen
It's very compact and easy storage. Easy to carry for traveling. Simply pop it open and Its not hard to set up but the rods needed some extra push. Used it for travel once and now using it for “time-out” zone for ours pets. The quality might not be the best cause it's light but it's definitely work for keeping the pet in. I really like the hook on the zippers to secure it. Also do like the extra pockets to storage little treats.

Not very sturdy.
The media could not be loaded. Some of the slots for the rods are too short so the support rods don't all fit in there right. Also, it tips very easily. My big cats try to get in and they collapse 8t I start so it's definitely not sturdy. It's a good size and it's fine for my little kitten which is why I got it but not good for the big cats because they want to climb on it and that doesn't work.Update: I've had this a few weeks and it is still holding up. My 4 cats are constantly playing in it and trying to play with each other through the mesh. At first the mesh seems like it would rip easy but I tell you it is way more durable than you would think. I have 3 full grown cats and a kitten constantly clawing at it and there is not a single hole or anywhere that even looks like it might try to rip. The only problem I have with this product is it's flimsy. If a cat tries to get on top of it it caves in. You can pop it right back into place though. Also I had to put something heavy in the corners because they flip it over very easy and get themselves stuck inside. So this is good for maybe small kittens or puppies or an older cat that would just lay inside of it. I can't close any of my cats inside or they just flip it or pull down on it and make it collapse if that makes any sense. It has not come apart any though. Except the rods in the front and back that are too long I have to close the Velcro back every now and then because they start to come out when the cats claw on it a lot.
