Good idea these but things to keep in mind before purchasing
I am quite new to using security keys like Yubikey and after seeing a friends account get hacked causing them lots of grief I thought about my own security. Setting these up is quite straight forward you download the Yubico authenticator app and set a pin. The pin is what you will use when you log into websites with the key that support these and get that pin wrong upto 8 times the Yubico will factory reset itself. The reason for this is if somebody steals your key it gives you that added protection. You can either use a yubico security key as the final step in 2factor authentication on a supported website or a passkey on a supported website. Support for these is a bit patchy and different websites might implement them a little differently. It's worth watching some tutorials on Youtube if you're a beginner and interested in these. There's other YubiKeys that offer more features so best do your research and choose the one that meets your individual needs. The Security key here is the most basic but does what I personally want. Pros - Stronger protection than say SMS codes for 2FA authentication. Only you have the physical key! - Setting them up as Passkeys offers strong protection against your login credentials being stolen and is convenient. Microsoft is one place that's starting to move away from Passwords and offer passwordless logins. It sounds less secure but it really isn't. Phishing is one of the leading ways hackers gain your credentials. Cons - You ideally need at least two in case you lose one, so keep one or more for a spares. - You have to weigh up your own security needs but it might be worth having another way into your account if you do lose or damage them. Websites typically offer multiple 2FA methods to confirm it's you. Only you can decide on your needs and your security will only then be as strong as the lowest method attached to that given account - A little learning curve but not difficult as such, like I say watch some tutorials if you're new

Works Perfectly
Bought a couple of these to secure my iCloud account. It was very simple to set up and works perfectly either by plugging in or using NFC. If you don't need all the added features and just want a hardware key to properly secure your iCloud or Google account etc, these are perfect

More security
Improves my security and is great value for money. It doesn’t play nice with iOS or iPadOS, with it not working with my devices. But this is an Apple issue not Yubico. Works fine with my PCs.

Limited support
While the key works well there is very limited support for it by UK institutions. It is more widely supported by large multinational companies. Not even any of the four financial companies I use support it. For the time being I'd say you're better off using an authentication app for 2FA.

Security knowledge is a pre-requisite as well as close reading!
First off, the industry is going towards these keys for critical account verification. There are many to choose from but Yubiko is one of the front runners. Its size belies its power, so don't be fooled by its form factor. It is a good device. That is the good stuff. This particular version is a USB-C key with NFC built in. What is less obvious is that it only packs two of the security protocols that you may need (hence the lower price). Read closely before you buy. The next issue is, by far, my biggest problem. Buying from the UK is almost impossible. Those who claim to have stock are resellers with no real value add. The Yubiko head office is the US and all Amazon purchases are fulfilled from Amazon US, taking weeks (not days) to get to you. Returns are easy though so buying from Amazon is by far the best deal for UK people. Finally, do NOT expect to get any comprehensive instructions for using this. You get the key and what is on their web site. Nothing else.

Great way to Fort Knox your online accounts
Very versatile and easy to set up. A great idea for a little bit of extra security with online accounts. Sometimes the NFC functionality can be patchy on iPhone but a few attempts normally does the trick. A little bit expensive for what it is, but the Security Key NFC version is cheaper due to lack of TOTP / Authenticator codes and other methods.

NFC, touch, USB-C. All good. You can also use iPhone’s NFC to authenticate with this security key. Expensive though; double the price of USA.

YubiKeys are a must at every tech company I've worked for. They offer the highest level of security and are incredibly easy to set up. I’ve used them for over eight years, and they’ve saved me from multiple phishing attempts. If you see negative reviews, ignore them—it’s usually just a lack of technical know-how. Take the time to learn the system; the security payoff is worth it.

I’ve just started using the Security Key C NFC and wanted to share my early impressions in case they help other buyers. Functionally, the setup went smoothly and the key has worked reliably for authentication so far. From a usability standpoint, it does what I expected. The packaging is extremely compact. That isn’t necessarily bad, but it felt a bit underwhelming for a product in this price range. I also noticed that the device doesn’t have a visible serial number. For me, having one would make it easier to keep track of multiple keys. The design itself leans toward simplicity. The green LED, in my opinion, has more of an older-style appearance, and the overall look doesn’t feel especially premium to me. This is purely a matter of taste, but I expected a bit more visual refinement considering the cost. When comparing it with my Thetis key, I personally feel that the Thetis model has a more solid and polished exterior. Both work, but the Thetis leaves a stronger impression in terms of build aesthetics. Since it’s only day one, I’ll update my thoughts if anything changes with continued use. So far, the performance is on point, while the design elements come across as more basic than I had hoped.
