Don't let people tell that you're too good to put a lamp together! That's hogwash! The base is completely assembled and the shade just rolls and snaps into place on the two metal hoops. EASY for this 71 year old with arthritis in both hands. I bought it because of the great reviews, and, even though there is a seam on the lamp where the Velcro holds the shade together, I have it against the wall. Whether you do or not, it looks uniform, tight and as it should. I would never guess that it didn't come in one piece! I'm a very picky person who has almost always paid for high end furnishings, but this accomplishes the same look for under $50. It's a quality product and it's well worth it. Plus, chances are that an assembled shade might become damaged in shipping. Absolutely no worries about that the way the part is rolled and packed in sturdy cardboard. Actually, the entire packing is more than adequate. Really struggled to decide between the black and the brushed gold because I have a more casual southwestern decor, but I did end up getting the gold since my 10-year-old grandson said it looked better. I'm so glad I ordered it because in retrospect, the black one does look slightly less striking as a whole, IMO. Last point. We want to use regular lightbulbs in our lamps. No LEDs since they aren't good for our health or our eyes. I needed more light in my room and wanted at least a 60 watt standard bulb, not a 40 watt or one of those flame shaped bulbs. Well this lamp does take a standard screw bulb in a standard E26 base. It has a pull chain that works with ease. The linen shade filters just enough light so that my room is still illuminated at night! Highly recommend this solid, most efficient mid-century modern, wood and metal lamp.

What a lovely little lamp! I knocked the lamp I had on the telephone table on the floor, it was ceramic, so it broke into a number of pieces, so I ordered this lamp because I liked it's looks. I'm so pleased with this lamp that I've ordered another for my night table and can return the living room side table lamp I'm presently using (far to big for a night table, looks totally out of place!) to where it belongs and have a pretty lamp for the bedroom. Anybody out there looking for a sturdy (it has a heavy base) simple but very pretty lamp, pick this one.

2025 update: After almost 3 years, the lamp stopped working. They don't make them like they used to. --- This lamp has a very nice nostalgic feeling to it for the pull cord lovers. It was setup easily and looks very calming and smooth. It would've been perfect if it had a touch dimmer on the base, other than that it's a very solid value. I just hope it lasts as long as my older similar lamp that finally had to be replaced after 30 years. Will update my review if anything happens.

Perfect for our needs and easy enough to put together. Does not look cheap.

I just love the look. Nice size and brightness and I like the shade. Very easy to assemble.
