DEWALTLED Flashlight, USB-C Rechargeable, Magnetic Jobsite Light (DCL183)

This was purchased after reading and watching many reviews on the product, some heaping praise and some barely lukewarm. As a DeWalt tool guy through and through I naturally have a bias to their products, and let's face it, like most other guys of a certain age I already own enough flashlights to light up a runway for a 747 but the form factor on this light, its lumen output and relatively diminutive size intrigued me. Now that I have it and have played with it I'm even more impressed with all the above, as well as how solid the build quality feels. This thing feels like it can take some abuse and keep grinning. I do have other flashlights with similar end and side or spot and flood illumination but none that sport this kind of output. Additionally I like that its rectangular enough that it won't roll but still rounded enough to feel good in the hand. The magnet isn't important to me, which is probably good because it feels barely adequate to support the units weight, and I have no experience yet with battery life but these days with USB chargers nearly ubiquitous in homes and vehicles it's hard to imagine that being an issue. It's just a solidly built, versatile light that provides excellent illumination in a small package that would be a fine addition to any tradesman's tool box.

this one is a solid flashlight, good brightness, good beam pattern and the magnet makes it super convenientcons290 g , feels heavy-non removable battery, can't be upgraded-could have better battery life for it's weight and size

Great rechargeable flashlight!

Purchased June 2024 after failure of a cheaper flashlight that was great - until it wasn't and no longer charged after little use over only 12 months. This De Walt DCL 183 was chosen after an in-depth search online. There's a lot of low price and low quality flashlights out there. This one isn't.PROS- Solid build, in China, but De Walt specify high quality and get it.- Three illumination choices: High (1,000 lumen), Low (250) and Flood (400).- I use Low for pre-dawn walks in local forest, High to see distance, and- Flood for special purposes - e.g. illuminate for photography - minimizes reflected glare.- 3 year warranty - easy to register online.- Claimed run time is High 2.5 hours, Low and Flood 6.5 hours- After 3 weeks daily use that claim seems OK.- On/off button cycles High - - > Low - - > Flood - - > High again..- The setting when you turn the light off will be the setting when you turn on again.- LED light informs battery level - over 50%, 25 to 50%, under 25%.- Small LED light warns when battery level is very low.- Battery can be charged at any time - there's no memory effect.- Easy charge from a USB port to the flashlight.- Charging cable is De Walt and also high quality.- Rubber cover over the charge port is often a weakness on flashlights, but- This one seems better than most - time will tell.- Excellent Instruction Manual that's worth reading.CONS- Instructions say that the light is not waterproof and should not be used in rain.- Although, based on build quality, I doubt it's going to leak like a sieve.- Charge times are slow - 1 to 4 hours depending on power rating.- Not light weight. Solid build has a cost.- Magnet too weak to hold light except when orientation is favourable.- Hanging hook is useful, but also has an orientation challenge.- Plastic case is smooth - can be slippery if your hand is damp or greasy.- Another reviewer has suggested stick on some grip tape.Would I buy again? Yes, based on performance so far.

Very impressive and is very bright. Would purchase this again in the future if I need too. I like the variable switch settings on the light too dim or use the offset light to use while working on a project
