First and foremost, I have to completely agree with another reviewer who said that these walking shoes are oversized. On the basis of that review I ordered the shoes in a UK 9.5 instead of my usual size 10. Even the 9.5 is a little bit loose, so I initially just wore thick socks to compensate. However, my feet tend to expand slightly on a long walk so I ordered a pair of cushioned insoles... they are now perfect.Apart from the oversize, these shoes are great. I generally walk at least 20 miles a week to keep in shape and these shoes are exceptionally comfortable on paths as well as sturdy tracks. They have good grip on slippery terrains. They are sufficiently waterproof in light rain but I dont think I'd be walking through deep puddles etc.I'm sure they would be fine along muddy country tracks but they would be a nightmare to clean afterwards (suede outer), so for me, they are perfect on roads, paths and designated rural paths, but for cross country, Id use my army surplus boots. Another reason to avoid getting them caked in mud is the fact that they are actually really nice for casual wear i.e. they don't look like walking boots.They seem to be well made and sturdy and I like the zips to put them on and take them off. I'm sure that you could leave the zip done up and slip them on, but for the sake of longevity (not putting excess strain and stretch on the backs), it only takes a moment to use the zips... I think this will definitely ensure you get the longest life out of them.All in all, I'm happy to give them 5 stars. Comfortable, sturdy and stylish and all for under fifty quid... If you want to go for your actual UK size, I would strongly advise that you take advantage of Amazon's 'Try before you buy' service... Size 10 is definitely between 0.5 and a whole size too big... Of course this might not be the case with smaller sizes... Just take this review as a 'heads-up' that there might be an oversize issue... Otherwise, I can't fault them... Recommended...

My main motivation for buying these walking shoes was the zipper fastening instead of laces. Due to an injury to my right hand thumb, I find it difficult to tie heavy duty laces. These shoes are generally well made, with good soles and uppers, the soles being reasonably thick at the ball of the foot. They also seem to be able to resist water...although only dewy grass or shallow puddles, they are not heavy duty hiking boots. They are also comfortable, although I need quite thick socks with them, they are a little loose with thinner socks, There is a problem with the zippers though, especially the right foot shoe. The backing, to make the zipper waterproof, keeps getting jammed in the zip as you close it. I've had to do some work on both, yet still have to be careful when closing, or opening for that matter. Maybe it's just my pair, in which case, quality control comes into question. If this problem hadn't been present, then I would have given an extra star for value for money.

I've got a belly and that's why I wanted a walking shoes with no laces. These are perfect, no need to bend down to tie, slip-in and out. I'm using the shoes daily and can confirm that these are very comfortable. Only issue is they are half size larger. So, bear that in mind when you order.

Short zip, easy to use not firm or hard to move but tends to unzip a bit over the days use (this does not affect fit / hold) …ideally could have been black but very inconspicuous and appropriate for design.5. Light and snug fit; will not yield and be comfortable with really thick socks, but this also means it does not slip off or feel precarious. The sole is not soft but its very comfortable, the semi firm quality makes it feel reliable underfoot when clambering uneven surfaces. The flat sole base without stepped heel is absolutely perfect for comfort and smooth even step ensuring comfort all day on all terrain. Seems to have resonable grip on most surfaces although not tested on extremely wet polished surfaces.6. Not particularly warm; which is good because it means one can use it all year round. Very breathable.Design: short and stout makes it good for general purpose and hiking adequate and fit for purpose but rather generic design and not the most stylish or distinctive. A slightly more refined, elongated and tapered front would have made it a perfect all purpose semiformal shoe.Overall score 4 stars relative to expensive shoes.Over 5 stars relative to shoes of comparable quality and price. Will buy again as a general all purpose shoe.

Caused a lot of pain ridge across middle of foot tight at toes ordered bigger size due to reviews still tight.

Very comfortable, easy to slip onto your foot, sturdy and makes you feel safe when walking in them.

These shoes are not cheap so I was expecting them to be very comfortable. As soon as I tried them on I could feel the underside of the outer sole through the liner!The zip is a good idea as I needed a pair of working shoes at home and going in out of the house, so easy to slip on and off. They are lightweight and I also use them to take the dog for a walk each day - mainly on road surfaces. The black swede is OK, I'm not bothered if they get dirty. I don't think I could recommend them for hiking, but OK for casual wear

I was apprehensive regarding size as many reviews commented on needing to order a half size smaller. There were no half sizes available in my size (8) so I took a chance. Interestingly, they proved a little snug but definitely comfortable and they kept out the water.
