Great gife foe a new cellist
I gave this book to a friend's daughter who has recently picked up the cello. I wanted to encourage her to play, and give her som classics to practice over the summer. She says she loves it and her mom says she's getting better and better and is practicing all the time. Definitely a great gift if you have a cellist in your tribe. :)

So great to play along!
As a pianist/keyboardist who has served in a variety of musical environments, I appreciated the top classic selections that were chosen for this book. I was able to access the music on the website, and used my electronic keyboard to play the string sound to the piano accompaniment provided (or you could play the piano sound along with the cello.) The sheet music for both instruments is included in this book, and is simple to play and immediately recognizable and gratifying. Back in the old days, I used to purchase "Music Minus One" records and get the feel of playing along with orchestras (which I later did "for real.") This book brings back fond memories of those Music Minus One days, and uses modern technology to offer the same type of experience.

Excellent Guide for Cello Beginners -
My son played the violin for many years beginning at 4 years using the Suzuki Method. It allowed him to play wonderful pieces without having to have many years of lessons. It is a great method and I love what it does for the confidence of young musicians. The author introduces this method and applies it to 12 songs, ranging from Beethoven’s Ode to Joy, Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, Brahm’s Lullaby, the English folk song Greensleeves and to one of my favorite the well-recognized hymn Amazing Grace. I purchased this guide for my son who is interested in learning to play the cello. I play classical piano and I appreciate the Piano Accompaniments section. It allows me to play along with my song in the same key, etc.

A great book for a true beginner!
I began cello lessons 2 months ago and am only like 10 pages into my beginning Suzuki book but I got this book today and was able to play a few of the songs that stay mostly on D and A strings. Such a boost to my confidence to be able to play with my husband who plays the piano! I totally recommend for beginners. It’s a great way to play familiar songs at a true beginner level!

Easy to follow!
Very easy to follow and I love the figure charts! Music selection is good, classic choices. Would love to see in the next book modern pieces well. Love the accompaniment for piano, my friend plays and hopefully with practice we can some day soon play together!
