A few years ago my Pyrex glass bowl broke somehow, it was really old so I wasn't completely surprised. I kept putting off buying another because I have other large bowls but I continually found myself wishing I had another glass bowl. Metal works for some things but you can't use it in the microwave and plastic was just too light so it moved around a lot while stirring or mixing. Last week I just couldn't handle it any more and ordered this bowl set. I was super happy to see a set that came with a glass measuring cup and a plastic lid for the bowl (which is something my old bowl didn't have). It has been so much better cooking and baking with this new Pyrex bowl. If you're on the edge or haven't used a Pyrex bowl before, this is a great set to start with. It's big enough for large baking projects or for storing potato salad, pasta or whatever and even makes a good bowl to eat your popcorn from. I may actually buy some more different sizes but for now this particular bowl is probably the ideal "do it all" size bowl. I highly recommend.
