Right out of the box it had a dinked corner where it had been dropped in the package at some point but, it's not on display and really can't tell it after install. Metal is pretty heavy gauge and dimensions snugged it right into the studs. Found its spot and took sheetrock out with a hammer and a steak knife. Had it in in about 8 minutes. The front metal is heavier than the side and rear metal so I had to reverse the impact wrench two yoga doors because it was pulling. For fire rating I'm not too concerned about the construction, anything in a walls not going to receive major damage anyway. When i first installed it, i couldnt figure out where the light was or how to get it on. Now that its in, it works when door is opened and im not sure how thats happening. 100% satisfied.

Went back and forth with Amazon and manufacturer. Manufacturer had me try things to make it work and then said they would send me a new part that would ship in over a month .I buy so much from Amazon and this is a disgrace . Do not buy !!

So the lock wouldn’t lock. I took it apart and noticed the little electric lock part was rusted. Cleaned it with some sandpaper and it has been working perfectly since.

First off this is a metal box with a plastic keypad. To say it's fireproof is a bit of a joke. Okay, perhaps fire will not melt the metal down, but your contents are going to go up in flames or If you're storing gold it would probably melt. What you really need is a fireproof bag that stores inside of this, and then you might actually have some security. Needless to say the keypad would be non-existent after a fire, and maybe your key may still work, maybe.I do like the fact that this bolts to the studs with four lag bolts, so It would take quite a bit to actually remove it from a wall. Somebody with a portable Sawzall could cut through the wood studs I guess and take the whole safe with them, but they would need a fair amount of time to do so.Certainly not as good as a safe deposit box at the bank, but It would probably deter most thieves, Unless they had a whole lot of time. Overall this is relatively easy to install. If you mounted a picture on top of it with a security system, this would keep most people from even knowing there's a safe behind it. Do get yourself a fireproof bag for your valuables or gold, as in a fire i'm sure temperatures could go up to the thousands of degrees, and the safe itself is not insulated to keep the entire thing from becoming an oven.Bottom line is this is more secure than just a metal box with a padlock, but If you have hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gold and jewelry, If it's not going to cut the mustard. You probably have to spend seven or $800 for a really high quality insulated safe and then you could actually say that the safe is waterproof and fireproof and your contents would be safe. This is just kind of a glorified metal box. The fact that it bolts to the stud is better than just a metal box, but again don't kid yourself that money or gold is going to be safe from a fire. I guess you would probably be okay in a flood if what you are storing is in a waterproof bag.Again, I would strongly suggest to anyone purchasing this to get yourself a good fireproof and waterproof bag. And then lastly I was expecting there to be a shelf in this but there is not. Not a deal breaker on a small safe, but would have been nice. Overall, for the money I think it's worth it, as long as you understand the limitations.

I bought this based on the reviews, being fireproof, and that it had the external battery box. It sounded the best of the ones that I looked at.The safe was very secure in it's packaging. There was a loose screw inside that I have yet to figure out if it goes anywhere or just tossed in. It looks like one for the hinges, although they have both screws.The shelves are a little flimsy. They are held in place with plastic anchors. One was broke so I just used a zip tie. I would think they should fit better, but once loaded they are ok.Fireproof - while the safe itself may be fireproof, I doubt the contents inside are completely safe. I can put a flashlight in the unit, shut the door, and see light on the hinge side and a little at the top of the door. I purchased a couple of fireproof bags for extra security.I do like the ability to set 2 different codes and it wasn't a problem setting them up. Of course having a key and the external battery box is a big plus.Overall I'm satisfied with the unit.

Very cheaply made only 20 gauge metal. Definitely not waterproof, there are holes in the back and floor with only ill fitting plastic plugs to fill the holes. The door is not water tight . I guess the metal itself is fireproof but there is nothing to protect the contents from heat . There is no insulation to delay combustion. very misleading on the site. I would return this if it wasn't so difficult . I'll just put it in the scrap heap.
