Is this a permanent straightener?

No ,It is a Conditioner that you use with the CHI shampoo and ,it protects your hair and leave’s it silky when you straighten your hair with a Flatiron. All CHI Products in the silver and red Bottles ,are use before you use a Flatiron . They are the best, I love them . Make sure you also get the shampoo and silk infusion. The silk infusion is use after straighten your hair with a Flatiron. It smoothes Flyaways .

Is this kind of like when the wen product. where is just a conditioner. or do you use it with a shampoo?

I use them both , shampoo and conditioner. I love them. Have used it for years. Not like wen at all. I have thick long hard to manage hair. Nothing else I've ever tried works as well for me. I don't buy any other shampoo or conditioner. I also use the chi oil with my chi iron to straitened my hair sometimes
