Otterbox Commuter Series Carrying Case for Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini - Retail Packaging - Glacier

Got this case for a work phone to protect it, since I would be responsible for any damages.Saved a few dollars, but should have bought a Otterbox Defender series case. I have been buying Defender cases for my personal phones for years and just love the protection they offer.This Commuter case does offer fairly good protection with a slightly smaller profile, the only thing lacking is the built-in screen protector. Otterbox includes one of those stick on screen protectors, but we all know how those work out. No matter how hard you try and how clean & careful you are, they always end up with little air bubbles.Oh well, it protects the phone from light drops and falls as long as it doesn't land directly on the screen. If I was to do it again, I would spend the extra couple bucks for a slightly more bulky, but far more protective Defender case.Thanks Otterbox, you do make great cases & I will continue to purchase them as needed for my next new "pocket computer".....

I have to say I will never go back to another case for all future cellphones after using this one. It fits like a glove and is very sturdy. I once slipped in the ice and unknowingly had my phone fall out of my pocket and into the snow. I didn't realize it until later in the day but the phone was buried in snow for over 10 hours. By the time I found it, not only did the phone still work, but was about 98% dry with only a small amount of melted snow in between the plastic shell and rubber covering. This $15 case protected my phone from the snow for over 10 hrs and prevented me from buying a new $200-300 phone. I love this case and will never use anything else other than an otterbox from now own. I have also dropped my phone multiple times and never had so much as a scratch to the phone body or screen. Very easy to apply and recommend getting a tempered glass screen protector for further protection.

Otterbox is our go-to brand so when mom finally went to a smart phone we knew what to get her. The commuter case came with a screen protector that was terrible. It is probably just old since this is for an older model phone. We bought something else. The case itself is great. We just wished that they had more color options like they do for the new model phones.

This was originally a 1 star review, 8 months later I’m changing it to 5 stars. I’ve dropped my phone several times, usually on concrete, and it is unharmed. Yes the screen protector film was a joke but I can’t argue with the net result. Ultimately a good investment!Original Review:Instructions for applying the "screen protector" (Bwahahahaha) consist of a 4 panel cartoon, no text, printed on half of a wrapper of JuicyFruit gum. The adhesive covered plastic "screen protector" (Bwahahahaha) becomes a opaque film of bubbles on the screen. Removing it leaves patches of immovable adhesive, no really, really immovable adhesive. So I've put the "screen protector" (Bwahahahaha) back on hoping the bubbles work themselves out. I am not hopeful and I am not pleased with this product.

For the price of this case you would think some attention would be paid to detail. The screen protector is worthless because there is a tab on it stating to pull the tab off last, after the protector is on the phone. But, when the tab was removed, a rough area remained - the tab looked to be glued on and it left a residue on the protector. I don't see why I should have to try and rub or scrape off this mess.

Otterboxes are known for being reliably tough and this model is no exception. I chose this model because it does not come with a screen cover - though it does come with a film you can stick directly to your phone. I feel the screen covers degrade useability. I did not install the film; the edges of this are raised enough that unless you drop it face down on rocks, it is generally protected from scratches. Some reviews said it was too bulky, but I disagree. I am a small woman and can still easily slide this in and out of my back pocket (though it's generally in my purse). I love that it's white, too...so easy to find!

Many Otterboxes and styles have saved my smart phones throughout the years from many o drops. This one is surpassing expectations through the " Toddler" test phase. I even forgot I had my phone in my back pocket when I went to the bathroom...it isn't waterproof, but man the case itself saved my phone from water damage in the few short secs it took for me to go fish it out.Only Con: older mini USB chargers will not work well with this case (they are just a little fatter at the plug portion and don't allow for the snug USB connection). Stick with the Samsung chargers and you will be perfect!

This case offers good protection but not much in the way of an anti-slip backing. I would like to have seen a little more rubber on the back of the case. This is the first phone I have had without a belt clip (just too geeky) and I feel like the phone will slip out of my hand at any minute and fall. If it does fall, it looks like the case will provide a decent amount of protection.
