All my friends toss Discraft 175 gram Ultra Stars all year long (4-5 hours at a time on weekends) so we have become something of 'experts' or connoisseurs in the way different discs handle and fly. First of all, the rim shape is better to handle, catch, release etc. than other brands which might have edges too deep or sharp. And it is also clearly the ideal weight -- lighter discs won't make it as far, but the heavier discs like the Big Kahuna are actually TOO heavy (like throwing shot put) to throw them further (even though they purport to be heavier to cut through beach wind). So in all respects, this brand, weight, and design is superior to all other discs for basic throwing (we do both long distance throwing and some catching tricks like spinning, tapping etc.) But strangely - the different COLORS of the Ultra Stars make a subtle yet MOST DEFINITELY NOTICEABLE difference in the flexibility and the wind resistance as it cuts through the air. Unfortunately, the sparkle colors (the blue sparkle for example) is a 'stiffer' more rigid material than the non-sparkle colors. I noticed it right away when I tried tapping the frisbee up as I received a throw (tapping up on my finger tips from underneath center) - as I immediately broke a nail, as did another friend, and a third friend commented the disc felt harder and more bruising. So after 4-5 tosses we returned to the solid pink color Ultra Stars that we normally use. The sparkle color looks nice obviously, but the plastic material is altered for the worse in this variety, harder and less flexible. In terms of visibility, the pink and orange are best for catching your eye against the blue sky or finding in the grass, and especially at dusk.

This is a great disc, flies great, looks great, catches great. If you are looking for a great disc/frisbee, this is a great choice.

Absolutely loved it. Really the best I have ever owned.

Cool looking but a little heavy. doesn't throw that well, something about the shape of the lip makes it uncomfortable to throw. It is made well and it's not that I wouldn't recommend it. It's personal preference
