Excellent for Sightseers
Item reviewed: 2017 flexibound edition (minor revisions being made about every two years)OVERVIEW: Excellent at telling you what to see, but it assumes you know how to get there.DETAIL:This book is divided into sections as listed in an earlier review by Glis Glis. It covers all the Greek islands, including Lefkada and Euboea which are now connected to the mainland. Nice features in the introductory sections are: outlines of suggested tours, best beaches, a “Choosing your Island” chart, climates of island groups during the year, and Greek history since the Classical era. Inside the back cover is a welcome map of ferry routes round all of the islands. This is more illustrated than conventional guidebooks such as Lonely Planet. With those guidebooks, when you arrive at a major sight, you may have to read or reread an essay of say five hundred words, and at the end may still be confused as to where exactly things are. DK's brilliant innovation is that instead they provide a labelled diagram, a bit like an aerial photograph, that orients you immediately and shows you where to go for the most interesting items. Of course this takes a lot of space so it's only done for major attractions like Knossos and the Palace of the Grand Masters at Rhodes.Another DK innovation is the illustrated diagrams of sightseeing walks, which make it much easier to locate the places of interest, and much harder to get lost, than with other guidebooks. Unusually, this book only provides two such walks, at the Old Towns of Corfu and Rhodes. The depth of treatment seems mostly quite reasonable. The section on Athens is very short, suitable for a 2- or 3-day stay, but at any rate it's a bonus. The island of Elafonissos, north of Kithira, is a gem and deserves more than the two sentences it gets on page 113.

Excellent Value for Money
This guide book is great for giving an overview on all the Greek islands. It contains many maps and pictures. Also at only £4.49 it is a bargain and well worth buying if you are planning a trip to the beautiful islands of Greece

A good introduction to Greek islands
As always with DK, photos are excellent and maps very good. A bit heavy if you are walking about though.

Good for an overview of each island
I bought this to get an overview of each island . In some cases I wished for more space to be devoted to certain islands but it does give overall very good information .
