I bought this so I can drain gas from my car into a container to transfer to my generators in the event of a power outage. To test it out, I set a large bowl of water on the kitchen counter. After 4 or 5 compressions of the bulb, the water began to flow. The height differential between the bowl and the bottom of the sink was under a foot. That impressed me, and I have no doubt that transferring gas will be no problem. There are extra accessories included that are pretty cool. One is a clamp so the flow can be cut in time to not overfill a container. There are others that can be useful as well. I looked at electronic pumps, thinking they might be more reliable. Turns out this one can be depended upon, and at a reasonable price. I’m both relieved, and excited to have a transfer pump that will work when needed. Strongly endorse.

According to the ad, the hand pump is designed to transfer gasoline from a vehicle fuel tank at the rate of 120 gallons per hour.Upon receiving the product, I was surprised by the poor quality of this “Made in USA” hand pump and the manufacturer’s questionable claim about its capabilities.I spent more than an hour on two different cars without the luck of transferring a single gallon.Called several times GenTap’s “Live US Support” during their “official” business hours, with no one picked up the phone.A complete disaster and a waste of time!

This is a good siphon for transferring gas to my lawnmowers. Easy to use and nice and heavy duty.

Assuming the only way to actually get somewhere near the stated 120gph flow is with the large tube only, and a big height difference between source and destination. This isn't typically how draining a fuel tank works, with the top of a fuel container and the bottom of the tank usually being pretty close to the same height. So far I'm 5 hours in and have drained about 13 gallons - this is with constant monitoring of the (light trickle) flow stopping on average every 10 minutes. The "car access line" is also difficult to get to the fuel once the level is low - as it's pre-curled hard plastic nature seems to just roll up inside the fuel tank. I'd look for something with an electric pump instead if you want minimum hassle draining of a tank.

Works great for siphoning old gas out of truck.
