how bright is this flashlight? in lumens

625 Lumens- Very Bright. You do not realize how bright the light is until you step out at night and turn it on. You hear about lights that are 1,000, 1,500, 2,000 lumens. That is awesome! But once you see the output of this light you may not really want- or need- anything brighter. It is lighter weight compared to the old 3D cell MagLights and the customizable switch makes it worthwhile, also. Hope this helps.

how to position the batteries?

Untwist the bottom of the flashlight and put 3 D batteries with the "+" toward the head (where the light emits) of the flashlight and then screw the bottom cover back on...
