We use this medical step stool beside the bed, to make getting into the bed MUCH EASIER than without the stool. My wife sets this stool beside the bed, with the handle on one wide, the platform in the middle, and a wooden cedar bookshelf on the other side. This allows her to step down from the bed at night, and have a place to put her hand and steady herself on BOTH sides now. So many of the platforms and mattresses today are much thicker, making for a much higher bed. This step stool has changed everything, and makes getting in and out of bed SO MUCH SMOOTHER! The platform is very steady, and well made.

I bought this for my son who, among other things, has cerebral palsy, to assist him with his climb into my Land Cruiser. It feels very solid and substantial. It's also wider than others I looked out, which helped a lot. I built it without the handle, as it wouldn't have helped him. It's helped out tremendously. My other option would have been to trade in the Land Cruiser for a Sienna, and I may still have to. But for now this step stool has really filled a need.

Had some difficulty with buttons aligning

This is a well made step stool. I highly recommend it!

We love how sturdy it is and the handle also. I would have given a 5 if it didn't come defective. One tube for the legs has a seem on the inside with a buldge inside it. The only way to get the leg into it was to use a soft hammer and pound it in. Even my husband couldn't get it any other way. Also the push or pop out buttons for the handle on one side won't pop back out to secure the handle. No matter what we do we can't get it to work. My husband was having surgery and therefore the need for the step. We didn't have time to return it and wait for a replacement. Thank goodness the handle is staying in place and holding my 280lb husband up. Probably not the safest but it works.

We have a step down in the middle of our bathroom which can be quite dangerous. I’ve had a half-step next to it for years to help me get down but as I’m getting older I’ve found my balance is off and sometimes my arms will come out trying to keep my balance. Falling on a hard tile floor would be disastrous so I was looking for a rail of some kind to make my half-step safer. When I saw this it was a game changer. Out with the old half-step and in with this one. It’s fantastic! There is a very grippy rug-like top on it so when my feet are wet it is super safe and the handle is very sturdy. Since I only needed a half-step I didn’t use any of the legs to raise the step higher, it was the perfect height right out of the box. The handle was easy to just stick in the side holes and set it to the right adjustable height. The step is heavy enough not to shift on the tile floor either.

Overall, This is a nice step platfoorm. The handle makes it more stable for getting in and out of bed. My only problem is that one of the spring loaded locking buttons in the handle is very difficult to get through the hole. I have to pull on it and wiggle it and eventually it locks. Fortunately, I may never have to change the setting.

After it was completely assembled, I discovered that the handle was not stable. It wobbles because there are no screws or bolts to hold the handle in place. Had I not thrown out the box, I would have returned this item. This is not a safe item for elderly and disabled people to use. I contacted Customer Service at this company, and they told me the unstable handle was a design feature. I say BS.
