REVIX Extra Large Hip Ice Pack Wrap After Surgery, Cold Packs for Hip

I had hip joint replacement surgery this week and these have been great to minimize pain and swelling. It is common sense to thread the top strap through hard plastic loop and secure with Velcro back onto itself. I don't think the lower loop is intended to be used on high hip applications like mine. There doesn't seem to be any way to use it that was. The only way I could secure the lower strap was to just wrap it around the pad and around the lower thigh and secure it with the Velcro back onto itself. I wear boxer underwear and gym shorts, so there was no need to put an additional layer of cloth between the pad and the skin, just turn the fabric side of the pad toward the skin. the pads remain cold enough to be effective for about 25 minutes, so I needed the second one so needed a second pad so I would always have one frozen and ready. I tried to use a Ossur Cold Rush Cold Therapy Hip Pad with my Ossur cold machine and ice. Despite the very specialized pad for this application I struggled to secure it with straps. I think I would have done better with a self securing Ace bandage. Also, with the Ossur system you are tethered to the machine which doesn't work well with a walker. This pad was large enough and flexible enough to mold itself to my hip, without requiring perfection with the straps. 2 of these pads are MUCH cheaper than the Ossur Cold Rush Cold Therapy machine and pad. 03/25/25 Update: Still loving the product, but wishing the bottom strap was 2" longer and the velcro on both straps was stronger.

I purchased the two pack for use during my post hip replacement, and I am so glad I did. This is my second hip replacement (first the left side was done five years ago, and now my right side has been done). During my first hip replacement, I suffered through trying every conceivable method of icing my hip . . . with minimal success. During my second and most recent hip replacement, I used these ice packs, and what a difference they made! They fit well (I am 6' tall and weigh about 170 lbs. with a 36" waist). I was easily able to ice my hip for 20-30 minutes four times a day for a few weeks--in total comfort. The ice pack keeps the chill exactly where it needs to be, and keeps it in place. The soft inner lining works well also. The amount of swelling was kept to a minimum in and my recovery time was substantially reduced when compared to my earlier hip replacement using other icing methods. They may seem a little on the expensive side but, I believe, at least in my case, they were worth the price. I also have a torn rotator cuff which these ice packs have also help alleviate the soreness when I workout too much. Highly recommended.

I got 2 of these for my husbands total hip recovery. He used them everyday! Day 12 and he’s still using them. Our son in law used them for his shoulder surgery too. They’re well made. Order 2 so you can use one and have one ready to go in the freezer.!

The ice pack part-6 out of 5 -it gets cold and stays cold for a good long while. I give it a 4 becaus the straps could be better- the bottom strap doesn't really have a thing to fasten it to but it doesn't work and fasten good enough to hold it while walking. I would buy this again. Must have for hip replacement surgery.

it was perfect for post-hip replacement. a must-have I would say. then you can also use it to ice other body parts

I found a few things that made me give the 3 stars. 1) You have to let it sit out for a few minutes after taking out of freezer. The gel in it does get a little hard so it does not wrap all that well around the thigh. After few minutes of warming up moves a little better 2) a large amount of frost forms on the outside of the wrap. 3) This frost causes the bottom strap to slide off constantly, that as well as the fact that the bottom strap just wraps around the leg, which how the form of the leg is, larger diameter top and narrows as goes down, another factor causes the strap to slip off constantly. Overall, does stay cold for a good amount of time, if it was made out of that thick cooling cloth many other wraps are made of, which would prevent frost forming, and bottom strap fit better to stay in place, would be a 5 star item.

This ice pack is huge, stays cold and fits me (a plus size girl) perfect! Really helps relieve my hip pain!

COLD!! i'm recovering from an interior hip replacement animals, tired of dealing with ice bags leaking all down my leg and refreezing solid...etc. major PITA when you are trying to cover an incision location! This thing is way colder than the ice pack, takes better shape to my entire hip and NEVER SOAKS MY GROIN/INCISION IN ICE WATER!! It already has helped the swelling go down!

This is an amazing hip ice pack I purchased after a complex injury to multiple hip/groin/glut/hamstring tissues, cartilage and tendons. Very effective. as ccovers the entire hip and a large enough size. Lasts for a few hours (roughly 1 to 2 hours, not quite as long as they say but depends on your activity and ambient temperature). It works beautifully to sooth injured hips, injured gluts and hamstrings. Only thing is it seems to collect frost in the freezer after the 1st use even though I am using their bag. Maybe it needs to dry off first before it goes back into the freezer (maybe it needs to dry from the condensation? But can't recollect if it came with instructions. Would definitely recommend this product though - nothing works as well as this full-hip ice pack. (Also stays in place but have to figure it out - where the leg strap goes, if a hip injury, around the backside and up a bit at an angle seemed to work well).

I purchased these for my hip surgery. They were perfect for traveling about, fit very well. They held tight once on. The velcro held well. It also has a soft side which feels wonderful on the skin. I bought two so I could alternate. I mainly used my Bregg ice machine, but these were a life saver in-between. I would definitely recommend.

Brilliant. Does the job
