An amateur artist's advice for using metallic paints...
I'm by no means a professional artist. I have a little art studio at home where I paint as a hobby. Except I usually paint on canvas using soft body acrylic paint. I'm much less educated when it comes to spray painting household items. But what I do understand is paint opacity, and when it comes to metallic paint the principles of its opacity are the same whether it comes out of a tube or a can. It's important to understand that shimmery/metallic paints are NOT opaque. They're going to be somewhat translucent. The shimmer you get from a metallic paint is usually from either mica (rocks) or some type of manufactured glitter. If these particles were mixed into an opaque paint base, they would completely disappear. I just don't want people to be disappointed in the results they get from using a metallic paint if they were expecting it to be more opaque than it is.To get the best results from metallic finishes, use a base coat first as a primer. I personally recommend black as your primer color for metallics, unless you are using something like a clear glitter spray that is totally translucent. In my photos I used the turquoise metallic spray paint, and since it's already got a paint color built in I used a black base. There's two main reasons why black is the preferred base color: it enhances a metallic finish much better than a white base. It just shows up better, and won't look as streaky. Even if you miss a few spots, which I certainly did, it's far less noticeable. Dark colors also reflect more light.Because metallic spray paint is semi-sheer, it also means you'll need less coats over a black base to achieve a good color result. You can technically get an opaque result with a metallic spray paint, but you'll need to apply SEVERAL coats which means more time and more money since you may have to buy extra cans. I do wish companies that make spray paints added opacity information on the cans the way most artist paints do. Otherwise it goes without saying that customers will be disappointed if they're not getting a result they expect.Lastly, keep in mind that metallics are more prone to fading over time (years though, not days or months) when exposed to UV light. So I definitely recommend adding a protective clear coat over it. Something that seals the paint and offers some UV protection and added durability so the paint doesn't chip off. I like using Krylon's Crystal Clear acrylic coating for those reasons, plus it is moisture resistant. I guess it just depends on what you're painting and what is important to you.Anyway, I love how the turquoise metallic color turned out on some otherwise ugly (but useful) black plastic crates. I did two coats. The black base gives it some added dimension, almost an ombre look. I plan to place them on some highly reflective stainless steel shelves which is one reason I went with a metallic finish for these crates. Now I want to spray everything in the house this color!

Great spray paint at a good price from Amazon.
I've been using Rust-Oleum paints for over 50 years. They get better every few years. Unfortunately the cost of all paint has doubled and tripled in the last three years, so it was good to find Amazon is selling Rust-Oleum spray paint at a much better price than the other places. Sure, when I need some paint "now," I get it locally, but if I can plan ahead it is much less from Amazon. I use these hammer paints on pinball legs and coin doors when the original paint is long gone. Many pinball games have chrome legs, but painted ones are not unusual and often used as a customizing treatment. Some metal coin doors were shiny (nickel or chrome plate) and others were painted. This antique pewter color is quite popular for restoring painted doors or even ones that were originally shiny, but now too far gone to restore the shine unless you want to pay for replating, so Rust-Oleum to the rescue. One tip folks, let your paint job dry for days, even a week, before you have to use it. It gets harder and more resistant to scratching as it ages, so give it plenty of time to "cure". Don't forget that humidity and temperature also affect how the paint goes on and how long it takes to get really dry. And don't breathe this stuff, wear a good mask and goggles.

Nice Coverage
I needed a black stainless steel built in microwave but didn't want to spend $2000 on one. I thought maybe I'll buy a stainless steel microwave and paint it black to match my other appliances. I bought the Black Stainless Steel and the Black Appliance paint, both by Rustoleum. I also bought some cheap stainless steel plates to practice and see if I would get the black stainless steel look I was going for. I painted one side black and the other black stainless steel and I can't tell the difference. The pic is only one light coat, which will be all I need. I love them both and would highly recommend. I belive the black paint was cheaper though.I also bought the gold paint because I want to paint the handles on my stove and refrigerator as a DYI gold trim, which runs about $300-$400 extra per appliance. I bought cheap black stainless steel bowls and painted gold. The pic is only one coat, just enough to know the paint will accomplish my goal.

Beautiful, strong coating
There's no way this spray paint is so cheap! It's amazing and looks very clean and nice on the handles and picture frames I used it on. I am super bad with paint and I messed up my picture frame but the when dried the spray paint automatically fixed the problem for me haha.

Ignore the comments about leaking
I don’t know if there was a bad batch or if they changed the design or what but based on reviews I was really concerned about the applicator for this product and it was fine. Use it like basically any other spray paint you use. I didn’t get any on my hands or anywhere else I didn’t want it to go.That said, I am only giving it 4 stars because it goes on very thinly. It is indeed transparent, which is great, but for my project (which was masonry) it went on so thinly that I could barely tell where I sprayed it and where I didn’t. I am not even sure it is actually a thick enough coat to protect the finish and I won’t be surprised if it is not.Of course, one can always let it dry and apply more but I ended up using the entire can for just that one thin coat. This is to finish a project that used less than one can of colored spray paint. I would need to buy at least another can if not two to get a nice clear coat on and that is not only expensive but a pain.If that doesn’t bother you then it should work fine but I would like a thicker coat and preferably in a larger can.

Works great - but very stinky
Make sure to use outside, or in a well ventilated space. I made the mistake of using inside, and boy oh boy, the smell was so strong, and lasted for days.

Paint itself 5 start, Price 1 star
Great paint, used for spray bombing our tub surround, was an old outdated yellow plastic, is now a hammered black awesome surround. Super strong smell tho, so if you can take your project outside Needed to buy more 3 more cans to finish the surround, found exact same product at my local Home Depot for 1/2 price. Kinda sour about that.

Worth the price.
What a lovely color! The spray itself is perfect with no splips or blobs (if you know what I mean.)Firmly attaching itself to the terra cotta and plastic garden pots I painted. This paint is pricey, but worth it.

Amazing product
Awesome product.Do a dry run or testing on other material so that you get a practice before spraying on final product. It worked best for my metal statues.Since only gold and brown color were available, I booked brown, I would have given 5 rating if there was brass visual color was available, so the statues would have got perfect looks.
