Super quality
As always Denis wick mutes are very well made and sound great. I did toy with the idea of buying a facet mute from US which is made from different types of wood but that would have a different sound and when playing in a band with other trombonists, all need to sound the same/similar to be a blended trombone section. I may one day go for a facet mute, but for band purposes this is ideal. I don't need to over blow to create enough sound projection. The only thing is tuning it. You have to adjust the corks with a blade or sand paper to 'tune it'. I suggest using a tuner to make sure you don't shave too much off. It is easy to take cork off but you can't put it back on unless you take it to a shop and pay for new corks. All mustes need tuning adjustment, not just this brand or style of mute. The corks are usually over sized for that reason. Youtube may have some helpful videos if you don't know how to tune a mute. Or just pop along to dawkes where they repair instruments and so on if you are lucky enough to live close enough. I sure they would tune it with you.

Great Mute
12 year old had no issues using this and could get the full range of notes. The mute stays in tune and produces a nice mellow tone.Recommneded for anyone who wants or needs a trombone practice mute.

The Usual Denis Wick Quality
Does its job, and does it well. Doesn't impact intonation as much as other practice mutes I have tried. Also have the much larger euphonium equivalent, which is also excellent.

Lovely mute
This is a lovely mute but it didn’t fit my old B&H trombone. Pleased that I was able to return it without any problem.

Exceeded expectations
This thing is brilliant. I really didn't hold much hope for it, after all, how can you possibly quieten down something as loud as a brass instrument?I bought it for my son, who to my dismay had taken up the trombone. But now I really don't mind: now it's quieter than the TV and he can practice at home without annoying the neighbours. This means he can actually make progress on the instrument as he can practice at home. Of course, he probably isn't as happy about it, as now he hasn't got an excuse any more!

Does the job
Excellent product as you'd expect from a Denis Wick product. My grade 8 player son uses this when practising.

Makes practicing in the flat so much better! Keeps a normal tone and allows a range of dynamics. Definitely a good buy!

Excellent mute reduces volume with minimal tuning change.
Very effective mute. Reduces vume significantly. Great for practising at home, in flats with neighbours etc. Maintains tuning very well. Only downside is thst is occasionally falls out of plastic pbone trombone. No such problem with brass trombone.

An excellent concert straight mute, and it works fine on my bass trombone.
This is the Denis Wick Synthetic Straight Mute. This is light weight, low cost, but effective straight mute, with good tone.Yes, this mute will reduce the volume of your horn if you use it during practice. However, this is NOT a 'practice mute' as such, but a normal straight mute, very suitable for performances. It fits very well in my bass trombone, and also my small bore tenor trombones.Outastanding!

Terrific practice mute.
Terrific practice mute. Intonation is quite good at all ranges including the lower register. I can even play pedal tones without an issue. Highly recommend. Shipping was quick.
