and I simply Love reading it to him before bedtime
Bought this for my son, and I simply Love reading it to him before bedtime. He also likes to play with it sometimes and the books hard covered pages are perfect to prevent it tearing apart. Also, compared to other books of this sort I have bought in the past, it has a lot more pages and is better illustrated.

This has become one of my daughters favourite books, if not her favourite. The illustrations are clear, the story simple but engaging and it would appear to be a good translation in Spanish (note that I have not read the original version in English). It is not awfully original but it is a classic. Se ha convertido en uno de los cuentos favoritos de mi hija, quiza incluso su favorito. Las ilustraciones son sencillas pero ayudan a narrar la historia de una forma visual y enternecedora. La traducción al castellano parece buena porque se lee bien, pero no he leido el original en inglés para compararlos. No es un cuento muy original pero es un clasico.

One of the best translated to Spanish books we own. It flows very well. The translation is almost perfect and both my kids have loved having it read to them hundreds of times. The only wording I would change is on the page where the baby bird falls out of the nest. "..fuera del nido salio y hasta abajo cayo' [instead of "llego'"]" but this minor mistake is easily corrected on the fly while I read. I've read it soooo many times I could probably recite it by heart. Make sure you bounce your baby on your knee a bit when the egg is jumping in the nest and add voices to the animals "...no puedo ser tu mamaaaaa, soy una vaaaaca. Dijo la vaca" [sounding like a cow]. They'll absolutely love that. It is a beauty of a book for preschoolers in both languages. I've been disappointed a few times with poor translations of great children's books, but this one is a winner. A good tip is to search Amazon for translators that have done a good job on books such as this one. Some of them are: Desiree Marquez (this book), Yanitzia Canetti (Yurtle the turtle, Red fish blue fish...), Aida E. Marcuse (Green eggs and ham). The last one I still read to my 2nd grader!
