Echoes of Eternity: The Horus Heresy: Siege of Terra, Book 7

Best Warhammer novel, period.
The author of this book, Aaron Dembski-Bowden has a track record of taking Warhammer lore to its full potential. This is without a doubt his best novel, and has narrowly taken its place as my favorite Warhammer novel (of any of the settings), of all time. The reality of a six month siege, with the absurd technological/metaphysical capabilities of other armies is pushed to maximum realism here. To be blunt, this book can be brutal. There are scenes that are grotesque and tough to read but they always have a point. Nonetheless, I ended this book feeling something. Drained, hopeful, and haunted all at the same time. This book is incredible.

A Masterpiece
I’m a big fan of ADB, that being said this, in my option, is his best work. This is a big novel and I finished in a week as I couldn’t put it down.It is Brutal, it is vicious, but also rather thoughtful. I don’t want to say too much and ruin the experience for you. But I found the decisions he made in his writing to be original and long overdue. I highly recommend reading this story.

Witness some of the most emblematic moments of the WH 40K lore
Ka'banda, Lotara Sarrin, Angron, Vulkan, Magnus, and Sanguinius – this magnificent volume features some of the best action scenes with beloved characters from both loyal and traitor factions. With excellent use of flashbacks, Chechok’s gun foreshadowing, high stakes, and one of the most epic endings of the Horus Heresy, this is a title you won’t want to miss. The events within are fundamental to the immense lore of this franchise. This is possibly the book I’ve enjoyed most by Aaron Dembski-Bowden, and the long-awaited duel between Angron and Sanguinius is as emotionally impactful as it is physically immense in scale. The sense of loss is masterfully described, and the feats narrated here will echo for eternity in the WH40K lore, just as the title of this work promised.

Long story but a solid ending
Book seven of the Siege of Terra and Aaron Dembski-Bowden delivers a sold footing for the final two books to finish on. It is a sad and disheartening story for the most part with the Loyalists on their back foot for most of it. The breaching of the final defenses of the Imperial Palace and the final closing of the Eternity Gate. Then in all the loss there is the melding of the loyalist forces into a stoic and lethal force. Sanguinius' defeat of his demonic brother and Ka'banda are the best part. Read it by all means. If I had a real criticism for the book it is a bit long in some places.

Literally Giddy
Amazing story that is starting to wrap everything up. There were times that I was literally giddy with anticipation. I absolutely loved how it switched between a bunch of different characters and the insight into the history of the Blood Angels was absolutely fantastic. Now I really want a book about their time before and right after they found their Primarch.

The Siege Comes to an End..Almost
I will be the first to admit that sometimes, ADB's writing has not been as great for me as seems to be the consensus. The grimmerdark gets a bit old, and I wish occasionally the bad guys would suffer a bit more for being bad.But. Then he writes something like this....AND TOTALLY REDEEMS HIMSELF. This novel feels like a living thing. It is heavy, I read it a chapter at a time because they were so brutal and real. If you ever thought that the followers of Chaos got off clear and free- well my friend you won't for long. The Blood Angels finally shine, if in a tragic and dark way. I want more from ADB on the Revenant Legion. The same characters we have been following (including the Howl of the Hearthworld) have their stories wrapped up, or some probably wished it was wrapped up.This novel deserves all the praise and credit it will get. ADB has outdone himself, and written what I would describe as a science fiction novel that anyone could read and love. Again, well done. I am completely impressed.

Another great read in this series!
Great storytelling and event descriptions again in the Black Library lore! Been reading the Horus Heresy and extended universe books for several years now and the Siege of Terra is everything it should be. Looking forward to the next book(s)!

Also genießt diesen weiteren Schritt zum Ende.

Flawless
A book worthy of the Angel. Arguably better than Saturnine. It eschews the multiple Siege of Terra plot threads such as the cabal in favour of focussed storytelling on just a few characters, mostly from the Blood Angels and World Eater legions. The weight, the suffocation, the inevitability of the hordes of Horus overwhelming the last defenders of terra is superbly portrayed. All the loyalists are on their last legs. The World Eaters' minds are fraying completely and everything is building to the confrontation between a demi-god and daemon prince. Yet amongst the dust and slaughter, there’s a tenderness here – whether that’s an Astartes realizing that he’s not shown the appreciation for the thralls that have loyally served him, or an egotistical genius showing some affection to a skitari. The book never sagged, there never felt like a wasted scene or padding (which is an affliction of the Siege of Terra novels). There are even a few illustrations of characters in key moments dotted throughout the book which was a pleasant surprise. This is everything good about Warhammer. I’ve given this 5-stars, but there is a lot of review inflation going on with the Siege of Terra series. If books like The Solar War and Mortis can also be rated as 5-stars then give Echoes of Eternity 20.The difference between it and the others (save Saturnine and Warhawk) is night and day. It’s like comparing an Imperial guardsman with a primarch.Aaron Dembski-Bowden has delivered a novel that does for the Blood Angels what the Night Lord’s Trilogy did for the Night Lords.Read it.
