The 3 Tray Deluxe Tiger Rainbow Wormery Electric Red operates very simply and harnesses the 'surface-feeding' nature of the Tiger Worms that live inside it. As the unit fills, the worms follow the food upwards through the holes in the base of the trays leaving behind their rich organic vermicompost in the trays below. By the time the top tray is full, the bottom tray is ready to harvest worm compost so you simply empty it and pop it back on top. You just keep the system going and the liquid fertiliser gathers in a chamber at the bottom where there is a tap to drain it into your watering can. Our Tiger Wormeries are manufactured from high quality recycled plastic and come with a 5 year warranty. What do I get?Tiger Wormery with Trays, Drainage Sump Tray, Tap & LidApprox. 100 Tiger Worms or a Worm Card Voucher* Approx. 1.5kg Lime Mix (to neutralise acidity)Coir Worm Bedding to introduce the worms into their new environment (also can be used to soak up moisture) Worm Treats - 1.5kg Composting with Worms Book by George PilkingtonA Coir Fibre Moisture Mat Which should I get? Easy to start...when you get the main part : worms
It contains everything to start a worm factory properly (must be my 4th... I used to DIY it myself before).Easy to set. Well explained, step by step.Of course, there are no live worms in it but a coupon you can redeem for free worms when you're ready.I ordered it few days ago. When ordering, it says nothing on the website about the date you should receive it (knowing that it is live animals sending by the post).I received an email confirming my order and telling me that I will receive another email with a tracking number when it is sent. It's been 5 days, and they've just landed.I got the worms in a very neat box, with shock protection wrap. In the box a plastic bag with tiger worms and coil, punctured bag so they could breath.

slow progress and more worms added
This is not a pet waste bin just kitchen compost. First lot of worms didnt seem to really get going. Had to buy more a few weeks later and finally they are visible on the decaying food. At this point they are extremely slow to create liquid or devour the tiny bit of waste I have added. Maybe when temp goes up in the coming months it will show more promising signs.

Flies
Was super excited to receive this product, being able to effectively compost and use food scraps instead of binning them!but from the product being defected by a dodgy lid, my flat no has an infestation of flies. As soon as you open the lid a swarm of little black flies bombard you, now they have also vacated the black bin. Its disgusting. From looking at all the hacks with a wormary such as using newspaper on top, burying fresher food in the older, apple vinegar cider in jars ect... nothing works. I must clean out the jars 2s a week and they are full! with dead lies. I also use the hoover to try and catch as many as I can when opening the lid, but it is no use.I am at the point now where I just want it gone. Its causing to much aggro for what its worth. Such a disappointment.

Drowning dead worms
Really disappointed with this product. When it rains it pours into the wormy and then they drown. Seems to be a very poor design.

Working well
Very easy to set up. Bought just over 3 weeks ago. We've kept it indoors until now - we bought a log store which is perfect to house it but had to wait, weather permitting, to paint it (only to brighten up patio area) so they've only just gone out. (Also got some garden fleece to protect from cold.) We've had no problems at all. We do get the odd few migrating down into the sump but checking every day and putting them back. I think as the new tiers become established, this will probably stop. Have to say, it is vital to read the instructions - leaflet and book - thoroughly before setting up so you know what you're doing. It is not rainproof so needs to be protected from the weather. The instructions do say so. No issues with drosophila while it was inside. Considering everything that comes with the package, excellent value for money.
