These stories are like treasures; gifts from God
Every single one of these stories (the titles of which I'll list at the end) are pure magic. Regardless of whether or not I like an individual story (though I enjoyed almost all of them), they're all so brilliantly constructed. From the first sentence, the reader is immersed I to the world conjured up by the author, and that feeling stays with you until the last sentence, and beyond. Almost every story in this book is extremely enjoyable, definitely worth the time and money.Contents:Toba Tek SinghThe Dog of TithwalTen RupeesBlouseKhol DoKhaled MianMy Name is RadhaRam KhilavanLicenseThe Mice of Shah DaulahFor FreedomSmell

New to me
I had never heard of this writer before and was most impressed with his writing and themes. My pleasure may have been in finding such an "alien" atmosphere in his writing but pleasure there certainly was.

He beautifully portrays the pain and sufferings of India's partition
He is master of his craft. He beautifully portrays the pain and sufferings of India's partition. I was sorry I am not able to read his stories in Urdu

Great book. A minimalist look on a complex and fascinating reality
Great reading. It reminded me of carver, but he came before him. The way he paints characters and stories is devoid of useless frills.
