excellent value for the price
The media could not be loaded. I have played around with this little camera for a week or so, taking footage of my journey to work and back over several days. Usually, I didn't get it right; too much vibration from the bike, wrong angles etc. Eventually I worked out just where and how to attach it to my motorcycle helmet using a velcro fixing (supplied) and some duct tape, just to make sure. Fixed to the bike at various point, the vibrations of engine and travel did not make for uninteresting footage, but there was some flicker and wobble at the edges of the frame, with a few good shots that I managed to delete. I would like to make a good film, but that will have to wait. The video I have put together is just a test shot, cut on iMovie, with nothing fancy, but it does give a flavour of the quality of the camera from shots taken on a fairly nice day. The colour is good, the wide angle lens has not created too much distortion, particularly barrelling, which I find irritating and is avoidable much of the time. I actually shot some comparison footage with a 3ccd camera that did not hold up too well, especially with the speed of the bike under acceleration: I was in town traffic, so speeds were not fast, but this camera coped well. The image quality is high, HDR, 16mega pixels and 1/3 of a stop over exposed, flicker rate 60Hz and PAL, with just about everything else at its default setting. The lens, at these settings is, I think 142 degrees, which is wide, but can be wider at 720p rather than 1080. The camera comes with a mains charger and all manner of fixings, including one for handle bars, which I have managed to cross thread, trying to get it to fix tightly - I have worked out a fix for this, so I am not particularly concerned, except to say that while the fixing seems solid, the nuts and threads are not of the highest quality: nevertheless, breaking it was my fault. The camera has a sort of grippy, rubberised surface with positive buttons at the top for on/off, video and still camera. Small push buttons to select camera modes and to scroll through the menu are positive, but a bit fiddly if you have large hands - fiddly, but not impossible. This is a small camera, with a small viewfinder at the rear and is quite light. You might think that its smallness and lack of weight make it easier to handle, but I would say the opposite to that: you need something firm to fix it too and although it handles action, speed and a few bumps and wobbles quite well, like all cameras, it works best when kept steady. In the hand, some sort of handle, or a small tripod would help to keep it steady and, on a downhill run, a good fixing to your bike helmet is much better than fixing to the handlebars. Because it is so portable, you could take it anywhere and it would be good at keeping video a record of outdoor adventure activities, but fix it to keep it as steady as possible.Media is stored on a SD card and it has both USB and HDMI slots at the back, inside the viewfinder, which is held by a clip release at the top: there are mic in and TV out micro connections and a removable battery. I have put in a 32gb card, but have made little dent in it with filming sessions of 20 minutes or so. Battery life is quite good, but you need to check it and there is a battery icon in the video screen. It is all pretty intuitive to use and I have spent little time reading the manual, but checkout Techmoan on youtube for a full breakdown of how to use it.Overall, it is fun to use, but it is not a toy: this can be a useful tool in film making, especially good for action sequences where a conventional camera will struggle to capture fast moving images or be too big to handle. Being small, with a range of fixing gadgets, you can be really inventive: I have taken some shots on the bike that were just off the ground, but you will need to go slow as the vibrations will affect the image and I haven't quite worked out how to get these right, but I see some great possibilities. The price will not break the bank, so if you have a budding film maker who, like my son, is into all sorts of extreme sports, this could be an ideal gift. I use cameras a lot, both still and video and these small action cams have captured my imagination. The camera is not perfect and you can't compare it to something broadcast quality, but for youtube and such-like, this is pretty good. I have given it a 5 star rating, because of its value for money and general good quality: you can pay a lot more and get a lot better, but at this price range I would be surprised if you got anything that surpassed this particular little camera. One small point, worth mentioning: it is described as waterproof, but I would not want to test that out. I think you can buy a waterproof casing for it: I don't think that this can be used underwater.Edit: I have had to cut the video to shreds; originally cut to 2 minutes it was too big to upload - I hope what remains still gives a flavour of this camera's quality

Seemed great until....
I was initially very impressed with this camera with the smooth high frame rate and great fish eye lens, however, I'm not so impressed now the camera has broken in several ways within 4 months of moderate use (used perhaps 6-8 times in total). I used it whilst mountain biking and to capture my motorcycle track days. Despite experiencing no knocks or scrapes, only vibration from normal use for these activities, the base mount has snapped, the clip-on mount has snapped and the camera now switches itself off as soon as I set off on a track day session - I can only assume probably due to motorcycle engine vibration. The plastic is very brittle indeed for both these parts to have snapped so easily, plus the internal electonics must be flimsy to have developed the power problem. Very disappointed indeed - will invest in a Veho VCC-003 and try that instead...

Great camera - dodgy handlebar mount.
The camera is great. Easy to use and exactly the features wanted. Can do a three hour cycle without running out on one charge. Love the fact that it can be set to record back over the beginning video so if using to record incidents you don't have to clear the memory - just keep recording until you need to retrieve a video. The fish eye catches a good wide view and you can pick reg numbers out if necessary. The HD is lovely although less use for sports due to the narrower view.Sound is adequate.Loads of attachments but I had a problem with the handlebar mount. The screw attached to the camera snapped while cycling resulting in the camera falling off the mount onto the road. It survived with some minor damage to the lens surround thanks to the observant and patient motorist behind who managed to stop without squashing it. It was a shame as the mount felt solid but must either be very poor quality or damaged before use. I have bought another one elsewhere to replace which has not fallen off. Would prefer to have the option of using spare batteries too though which is a bit of a drawback. Otherwise you could take this on tour and catch every moment.Tempted to get another so I can get both front and rear views.

As a cycle commuter Quality of the camera was ok at best. Even right up at 'full HD' you can't ...
I used this on a cycle commute and also plugged in to van as a dashcam. As a cycle commuterQuality of the camera was ok at best. Even right up at 'full HD' you can't make out registration plates on cars going the other way.I was disappointed with this aspect - the quality is pretty important in the case of a collision. It's also difficult to turn on and off whilst wearing the helmet - the same number of presses didn't yield the same results. As a dash camIt worked ok as an independant dash cam. You need to mount it well and I found the need to wedge it in the dash to prevent it shaking a lot. Quality seemed ok in this respect. What I did like:It looks like a camera. Attached to my helmet, I felt it acted as a visual deterrent to drivers.Easy to locate the buttons on top.Sound wasn't that bad but I do agree it was better with rear 'door' open.Would I buy again?I personally would pay the extra for a Go Pro hero - having seen the difference in quality, I think it's worth it. If I only had £70 for a camera, I would probably buy this again. 3 stars - It's ok. I didn't dislike. I didn't like.
