I liked it but I didn’t love it.....
Ok, where to start...I’m not sure where to start, soo I’ll dive right on in...( sounds like Charlotte a bit,I’m sure)Sure .. Yeah that’s a place to start,Charlotte wasn’t sure, she wasn’t sure what she wanted,or what she needed or what she even wanted from life, except, except she desperately wants Avery’s attention and sadly she didn’t even know she wanted that til she got it....That’s the thing, while real life is riddled with this for all of us,or friends, acquaintances, ppl we barely know, strangers,us all stumbling though life thinking or at least looking like we have it all together, that we have everybody’s number when really we don’t have a clue, this wasn’t fun for me....Not really....Charlotte was fun and likable and could be really sweet but honestly at least in my opinion she wasn’t enough to carry this story alone and when a story is written in just one p.o.v that one characters voice has to carry that story and Charlotte just couldn’t do it for me....Now Charlotte is fun and interesting at times and starts seeming like she has the world 🌎 on a string but that string quickly unravels and we REALLY needed Avery to be less distant and mysterious with his feelings and intentions if he wasn’t going to be given a voice.....Charlotte just couldn’t hold the show by herself for me,especially when she finally starts to get some clues and starts to pull back,we REALLY,really NEEDED Avery there to if not step and put on his “big man briefs” and be there for Charlotte,we needed his voice to be there for us and let us know what was going on w/him.... instead of parts of chapters 21/22 being literally repeated at some point ,in wha I’m thinking was a major “type O”.....Like I say I did like this story a great deal,Charlotte has a lot of charismatics I’d love to have... she was amazing at reading a person, their needs and/or a situation and coming up w/just thing for that person, place or thing but Avery was too mysterious in his thoughts and feelings and moods, left all of us guessing too much ,not just Charlie -Charlotte and then when she started to doubt him and her place there it seemed totally destroy her whole house of cards....And while I can see I guess ha lot of her flippant devil-may-care lifestyle and pranks built of top of an insecure young woman’s shoulders who wasn’t sure what she wanted or where she was going ,it just needed more ....It was too big a shift....Nice but could have been soo much more ...Btw How old was Charlie ?And while the five seconds of Avery’s voice was nice in the epilogue, sadly after all they’ve been through his insecurities just seemed to serve to confirm their HFN status...Not a fun way to end, seeing the H still needing things to see he’s important to the h after loving her for soo long and after all they’d done and survived together ...Nice but I’m not sure I’ll be back for more, definitely left me unfulfilled and hungry...

Enjoyable, safe romantic story with plenty of steam....
4.5 StarsCharlotte “Charlie” Merriweather, 24, has pulled one over on her boss one too many times. Avery Banks, 29, has had enough of his untamable assistant’s pranks.I liked Charlie in the first book, Play, and I wasn’t disappointed here. She’s fun and has a devious desire to chip away at the patriarchal power house in the corporate office environment. I wasn’t too sure about Avery in the first book, but he totally won me over in this one. His cool, controlled, and reserved businessman aura falls away to reveal a dirty-talking hottie with a heart and integrity under the suit. The pair had chemistry, and I felt the sparks between them. They were hot together! There was good build-up both on the lust and love front. Their relationship plays out like a progression from misperceived abhorrence to attraction to love and the reader gets to experience each step. The character development is solid. I understood what drove both of them, what held them back, their weaknesses, and their strengths. There wasn’t any unnecessary drama; the story deals with the issues between their personalities after two years of working together yet never connecting till now.The absence of OW/OM drama also helped to make the romantic vibe stronger, and undoubtedly sealed the swoon-worthy factor on Avery.“I don’t believe in f**king one person when you’re thinking about someone else.”I can’t applaud this sentiment enough. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone. Give this man an award. Better yet, clone him! There’s a distinct shortage in the romance market of heroes who can keep it in their pants. And the fact of the matter is, it’s so much hotter when they drop them for the heroine.Told via Charlie’s first person POV (Avery gets a chapter in the epilogues), the overall tone is light-hearted and feel-good (floved the open mic stand-up show) with the exception of one somber episode.Payton and Max from the first book make appearances and Riley gets his story in the next book.

I'm starting to really like this author
This is my second book by the author and I'm hoping it's as good as the other book I read Stripped, which I gave 4.5 stars. So in this one Charlotte AKA Charlie is the personal assistant to Avery and they kind of spend a lot of the time winding each other up and we learn a few of these times in their little arguments but things backfire when Avery fires her. Charlie can't quite believe it and tries to make amends for some of the stuff she's done and in a spur of the moment thing, they end up kissing. And then more.I got pulled into this early on. I loved their banter and how they quickly fell into their attraction and lust when they finally thought about how their antics had been a sort of flirting, annoying each other to get a fiery reaction.I loved these two characters. Charlie was a bit of a wild card and Avery was a straight-laced guy. They were pretty much polar opposites but together they were great. It was hot and passionate and fun. This author is definitely one I'm enjoying reading and will be keeping an eye out for more of her books in the future.

Sexy suspenseful wickedly delightful
I could not put this gem of a book down. The complexity of the characters and how they were exposed emotionally throughout the story was clever and intelligently written. Avery and Charlotte' s relationship went from ice-cold to ice-hot. The ending was perfect too. Piper helped to put a visualization of the story in your mind as a reader which isn't the easiest of tasks to do. The sex was hot and desperate but didn't always end up in each other's arms - wham, bam, thank you ma'am. I found Charlotte' s character intriguing, from the tough shell who pranks and act's out but whom has such strong convictions yet hasn't found a her siphon to distill her angst also kept me entertainment. The psychological aspects heightened the conflict but was then balanced out by friendships with Peyton & her visits to her beloved Grams - who I adored as well.Great writing, great story - one you will grieve finishing!

Great story
Charlotte "Charlie" Merriweather had worked at Alliance for a few years, and was good at her job. She got her kicks by playing pranks on her current boss Avery Banks. Avery is destined to do well and will walk over anyone to get there. The problem with Avery is that he is too good looking, and Charlie secretly has a thing for him, this is why the pranks are all that more fun.The office dynamics start to change when there's a scandal at the bank, restructure is on the cards and everyone has to prove their worth to survive the cut. Big changes start with a refurbishment that lands Charlie sharing the office with Avery. The sparks fly! Two strong characters in the same room is a recipe for disaster. As normal with Piper's books, there is a good helping of humour mixed in with romance and a steamy relationship and this one does not disappoint. Great story.

Good read
Charlotte has a very sexy boss and she is always up for playing pranks on him until the day he fires her only to let her work for the firm's big gala. Avery has only one thing on his mind and that's a promotion, he doesn't want a relationship and certainly not with Charlie. The kiss they have turns into the best sex but he wants to keep their relationship a secret. Charlie walks away.

So, so good.
Oh my. I absolutely loved this book, the story line, the characters and some very good writing. Charlie is fabulous and Avery totally yummy. There are some incredibly hot scenes but the sass and fun and cleverness of Charlie makes this a must read. Love your writing Piper...more please!
