Flawless! Simple, 5-min setup (dl the firmware! super ez)
I don't like raving about products, but 8Bitdo knocked this one out of the park. Opened the package, then plugged it into my computer with the included USB-C to A adapter. Navigated to the company's updates page, downloaded and installed the firmware update. Powered on my PS2, plugged in the device, hit the button to start pairing, then paired a controller. Booted up a game and my ps4 controller worked flawlessly! This took about 5 minutes total! I think waiting on the PS2 to boot a game took the longest amount of time in the process.

Very much an improvement for PS2
Very nice device. My old PS2 has new life again. I am using a PS4 controller with it and it works flawlessly. Very easy to pair, it actually took one to two seconds. You have to re-pair to the controller every time you use it (turn off the console). Not a bid deal. I have not tried an Xbox controller but it should work just as well.

Great Product - Update Firmware!
Update the firmware from the 8bitdo website if you're having problems with buttons, toggles, lag, etc. Did not work properly right out of the box (despite the update in the log being recent!), but after a firmware update, the PS5 controller works well on the PS2. Bought this for my mom for Christmas -who isn't tech or search engine savvy despite being a gamer- and the left toggle wouldn't let you move forward, the right toggle wouldn't let you look back, and there was a bit of lag between button presses. I had to go online to find the manual and set it up for her. She still asks for my help pairing it 😅 she'll have to learn by the time I move out! I occasionally have to unplug it and plug it back in to pair - not a big deal since it needs to be charged (it usually pairs on the first try though). But otherwise, it's great and a good buy and she's back to playing the OG Rarchet and Clank games!

Easy to Setup with Easy Connection
Super easy to setup and quickly connected to by 8Bitdo Pro 2 Controller. Nice to be able to play my PS2 with no issues. No latency issues that I've noticed.

Adds 13.3ms of Lag
I did an exact lag test and the receiver adds 13.3ms of lag. That's very low, but nowhere near "virtually lag-free". The variance (trial with most lag minus trial with least lag) also went from a 11ms spread with an OEM Dualshock 2 to 19ms spread with a DS4 and the 8bitdo adapter. So keep it in mind it adds a little amount of lag/latency and adds a little more variance in the polling. Other than that it works 100% flawlessly, it's very easy to pair, works perfectly, is responsive, and even supports rumble/vibration/force feedback. So basically, this is perfect for casual to mid/high level play, but speedrunners and those demanding perfect precision gameplay might prefer not using it. In practice, since 13.3ms is still fairly low, it's hard to feel the additional lag, but it does worsen the responsiveness "vibe" a little.

Exactly what you need to use a wireless controller with a PS2
I dug up my old PS2 from storage and decided I wanted to play some old games. That said, some things have changed in the past 20+ years and I needed to adapt it to a world without CRTs (I don't have any, at least) which meant an adapter to convert the signal out to HDMI and something that would allow me to use a controller from across the room (no longer sitting 2 feet from the TV). This adapter works perfectly to connect a DualSense (PS5) controller. All buttons and joysticks work as expected. I can now sit comfortably on my couch and play games on an LED screen that's four times larger than my old CRT.
