NoritakeColorwave Covered Butter, Graphite

I purchased this butter dish in Suede a month ago based on the picture, hoping it to match my old beige stoneware set.I do not own any other Noritake Colorware pieces, but I do have an old Mikasa Terra Stone Curry butter dish and I expected a similar Nippon stoneware quality.I was honestly disappointed seeing it in person.a) The color shade has more pink in it than I would like and it is paler than it appears on my screen (I know, possibly my screen setting issue). It makes it clash with my other beige stoneware.b) The lid's edge is thick (3/16"=5mm), there is no tapering like on the edge of the under plate.c) What is much more important than the look itself (de gustibus non est disputandum), is the fact, that the lid's side surface is somewhat slanted and roundish. I always have a feeling it is about to slip out of my hand, when I lift it.d) Finally, another reviewer is right - the lid slides on the under plate, even though there is a faint indentation on the under plate.Dimensions: under plate: 8.5" x 4 5/8", lid: 6 5/8" x 3" x 2". Total height together: 2 1/3".Weight: 1.25 lb.

Not the greatest design. Hard to lift without getting butter on the inside of the lid. If I had known, I would have probably bought a different kind of butter dish and gone without matching my dinner service set

We purchased this to go with our Colorwave dishes. While the colors do match, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. I saw comments about "Ugly Pictures" of this butter dish. It isn't exactly ugly, but it isn't necessarly pretty either, it looks sort of squat, and the cover doesn't line up with anything on the bottom dish to hold it in place. We will use it because it matches our dishes, but if it didn't match our dishes we would not have ordered this item.

We bought this butter dish to match our dinnerware. I can not tell you how many times we have almost dropped the lid. Its a stylish dish but the material is slippery and Im sure it won't last long in our house. Maybe they should put a handle on the lid...It wouldn't be as sleek but it would prevent it from breaking!

When my daughter could not find this item to go with her registry at a large name brand store, I started looking online. Amazon had the item at a fair price. It will be nice to complete her dishes set. These dishes are great because they have a feminine touch with the floral motifs but the graphite color also makes them masculine. The couple loves this compromise in their new dishes.

Got this almost two years after we purchased the plates/bowls/etc. for this set. There is NO color difference, it came extremely well packaged, no damage at all. And it's a huge bonus that it is dishwasher safe, just like the rest of the dinner set. Looks very nice sitting on our counter next to the matching sugar bowl.

Just what waned and received it a timely manner.

Nice china with the easy cleaning and cooking and use of everyday. I was so happy to find this product on amazon as I was disappointed it was discontinued in stores shortly after our wedding.
