6 month review: Rack has been on and off multiple times, rack left out in the elements, no decline in function! These lock cores fit my Thule system perfectly, just like the originals. Absolute game-changer! I lost a key to my Thule box and dreaded the cost and hassle of replacing the whole lock. This 4-pack was the perfect, affordable solution. I know how to install these lock cores. But the set I received were impossible. First, install key was extremely difficult to get in. Then once I got it installed and locked, couldn’t get key to go in to unlock. Then it slid in, but wouldn’t turn. All told twenty minutes of frustration. No thanks.

I bought these for my RockyMounts roof rack because I refuse to pay $80 for 4 locks. They ended up working perfectly. You have to use the install key to get it started and then use the regular key to put them the rest of the way in. But this is likely because I’m putting the locks in a different brand rack. So if you are wondering what lock codes will work in a RockyMounts rack, these are them.

These are a great value but I’ve found they are a bit stiff to use right out of the box. They installed with no issues. Perhaps some WD 40 will free it up but they were difficult to lock and unlock initially. If this experience changes I will update.

Easy install into Thule Apex XT 5-bike rack. I did not have original Thule key to remove the cylinder so went to REI. They took it out for no cost. Dropped the new cylinder in seamlessly. Hopefully it can handle some weather, but easy enough to drop a new one in now that the blank key is included.

Price is as basically free! Product works great. They inserted easily, come with an install key and two working keys that function fine. I just wanted to add these since previously i had no locks and felt it might attract attention when parked unattended even for brief stops. Now the locks are in there so at least might deter a quick grab. That said… the plastic covers that these locks secure can be popped off with a screw driver in two seconds, so they are really useless i guess. Any thief interested in a roof rack will know this. I really only got these because its easier to take the covers off with the key than with the dime i was using with the plastic blanks. No way i would pay 100+ dollars for thule locks that are the same effectiveness. These are justifiable for the cost. Totally happy.
