UBUNTU LINUX 14.04 (LTS) FULL OPERATING SYSTEM AND SOFTWARE ON USB MEMORY STICK - LATEST VERSION!

I had just done a secure wipe of a Windows XP laptop which I was going to give away, then I thought that it would be interesting to have a look at Linux as I had nothing to lose if it didn't work. It was so easy - just took a few minutes to work out how to get it to boot up from a USB stick and then it was straightforward (and I like the way that you can try it first). Have now decided to keep the laptop as I think I can have fun with it (and it is a pleasant change from Microsoft)

Installed a very basic desktop on a AMD 64 bit machine (Dell Vostro) with windows with no menu's and thus a really unusable workflow. This was very different to the run directly off the memory stick (which is of course standalone) which worked well. After some investigation gave up and installed MINT (free download) on the machine with no issues. This is a huge disappointment as a paid for packed distro (the OS is of course free) should work on the most common of machines/configs, suggests very little testing here...

Could not get on with this product; and is therefore not in use.

Fast delivery, easy to set up on an old Windows XP laptop. Thought I'd stick my toe into non-Windows computing so this seemed an easy way to get into Linux, rather than downloading freeware.A complete OS for under a tenner and installed in 30 mins? Worth 5 stars except I don't "love" anything computer-related.

Everyone should get Ubuntu. No known viruses and my laptop runs faster now than when I first bought it. Although I did install a new SSD as well.Great value and prompt service from Amazon.

easy installation on an ancient compaq netbook, picked up all hardware & worked 1st time. Faster than XP and makes it useful gain

90% good, but not quite as easy for anyone with just a working knowledge of computers, required just a bit of technical expertise.
