This thing really works. All my plastic cutting boards look much cleaner and are much smoother. It does take quite a bit of elbow grease and it is loud with the rough side.

This cleaner worked 80% as hoped but did not completely remove the stubborn stains that are inherent with the Hasegawa board. It really should come with the board as it is needed. Paying an extra $20 for the cleaner seems excessive.

This is meant for sanding down rubber cutting boards like Asahi and Hesegawa. (It may also work for HiSoft but I have not tried). Think of it as being like a drywall sanding screen but made for rubber cutting boards. Compared to using sandpaper mounted on a hand sanding block, this works much MUCH better. As to the reviewer who tried to remove a cut -- that's a lot of sanding for sure.... Also, rubber cutting boards are not meant for rough chopping. For normal cutting, including rocking chops, they are self-healing. Should not really get cuts in a rubber cutting board.

I like to use this at the restaurant where I work to help re finish the cutting boards.

If you maintain your Hasegawa board from the beginning with this then it's probably fine but if like me you have used the board for months or years and it is badly stained then this will not help, for me it was a waste of money. Better off buying some very coarse sand paper.
