NOW TV Smart BOX Set-top Box

It's Sky, but cheaper and better. I cannot believe I was paying over £80/month for Sky- I feel like a total idiot! Now TV gives me everything I want (box sets, some Sky channels) for just £7.99 a month. If we want sports, we can just buy a day, week or month pass as a one off. The box is small, sleek and wifi enabled (unlike the Sky HD+ box). The interface is simple and much better than the Sky on demand app we were using before. It gives you your programmes you're currently watching on the home page, at the point you have reached in the season. In addition, you can watch things like iPlayer, all4, itvplayer and YouTube through this. The remote is small and simple, and overall I am just astonished. It's not usual that you play so much less to get something SO much better! We had been using the Now TV app on the Xbox, but the box is a worthwhile investment for ease of use with your TV. Just brilliant!

Everything... just works. Such stable and fast streaming, crucially including your own small selection of sky channels for a small sum... is really great for the price paid for the box. The remote is rubbish, but works, the menus and EPG are not the best I've used, but at least they are responsive. If you're looking for a few extra channels (including sports packages for short periods), without shelling out lots of cash and having a dish fitted... this is the definitely the answer and a great step up from freeview. Pair it with netflix and that's all anyone really needs. Hopefully they'll be a 4k version soon!

I bought the new (not used) now tv box. I paid £95. Very easy and fast set up and installation of freeview channels. This box is a bit clunky and a bit slow navigating between freeview and the paid for channels (sky sports, entertainment and cinema) and the different apps on there. The tv guide isn’t very good, it just shows you what you’re watching at the time and what is on next. It doesn’t show what’s on the rest of the day. Picture quality is good. When you haven’t paid for any of the packages (sky sports, entertainment or cinema) you can still watch all the freeview channels for free on there, provided you have a tv aerial which you only need for the freeview channels. Your internet (wifi in my case) works all the pay for channels (when/if you pay for them) and apps. A little tip; I never pay the advertised rates for sky sports, entertainment, cinema or boost. I wouldn’t, it’s too expensive. When I have about 2 weeks left before my current deal is about to end on a specific package I go onto my now tv account and I start canceling that package deal that’s soon to end. (If you don’t cancel or agree a new deal they start charging you the advertised rates when that deal runs out, so keep your eye on when your deals are due to end. Make a note if you have to. Don’t leave it too late!) During the cancellation process I usually get offered another deal at another reduced rate, usually get it cheaper if you agree to have a package over a longer period (for example you may get sky sports for £25 per month, but you have to have it for 6 months). Sometimes I take it and sometimes I don’t. It is dependent on how flush I am and what is actually on to watch. If you do cancel you can continue to watch until your time on that deal is up. It’s all a very efficient process. Most of the time there are big savings to be made using this method. Everything considered I’m reasonably happy with this box.

A great item. I only bought this because my xbox broke and I like to watch F1 on sky so no contract which is great. It was very simple to set up and put my credit on to watch F1. I like this very much and I am very pleased with my now tv box.

Fantastic purchase, now my not so smart Sony Bravia TV is very smart, the NOW box is very easy to use, very versatile and with a £7.99 A month subscription so many good films etc are available. Highly recommended,

Be careful on installation, I intentially bought this to avoid paying for a ‘pass’ bundle but unwittingly signed up while installing, probably my fault but I don't remember doing it, only noticed after 2 months had been deducted from my account. I only wanted it for catchup tv and pause/rewind, for which it is perfect.

Was so looking forward to this arriving but it only worked for a few weeks and then started playing up.. Kept losing connection.. Definately wasn't a new one.. Its now in the bin
