Q: I have a 'freestyle freedom' meter. will the same test strips work on the 'freestyle freedom lite' meter? looks identical.

When I check the container of test strips, it says "Use only with Freestyle Lite, FreeStyle Freedom Lite systems." So Yes.

Q: Do I need a prescription to buy this meter and the test strips?

You don't need a prescription, but these things usually cost over $80 without a prescription/insurance coverage, and probably for that reason they keep these things behind the counter at pharmacies whereas the standard test strips can usually be picked up without consulting the pharmacist.

Q: What is the difference betweeen the freesyle freedom lite and the freestyle lite meters? which meter has the lighted digits ?

I have the freestyle lite, and it has a backlight feature within the display (very nice). To my understanding the only difference with the Freedom, is the display is a little larger. However, they both use the same strips. However, I'm not sure if the Feedom still has the backlight, since it has a larger display.

Q: Where can you find the test strips? I went to cvs and they were a ridiculous amount of money.

I have been buying my strips on line on Amazon & E-bay. The Pharmacy even with health insurance still wants too much for the strips.
